The wife got this one for me from Northern. It works great. No more nodding the head to bump the helmet down when ready.

Whenever you add filler push a little more through than you think you need. When I was doing my roots I'd dab and push, then move, repeat

So I have a piece of square tube that I heated up too much and warped. One end is out by 1/8". I'd rather not scrap it. My thoughts are to saw cut it 90% through, then bend it back straight and weld it up. Or I can take the torch to it and bend it back that way.

    Thoughts?

What wall thickness? How is it bent, crown or twist?

I usually just use a clamp and some 2x4s for a crown and s vice and adjustable crescent wrench. But tube can be tricky.

2" square. It's one direction. I went ahead and saw cut it. I really need to work on not putting so much heat into these pieces.

    Pop rivets and JB Weld.
Using the torch is a better method for the integrity of the the piece, but straightening using a torch is an art in my opinion. One wizard at my work could straighten the craziest things if you gave him the time and the cigarettes.

Do some homework on the subject to get an idea first.

Edit: Oh, you already cut it.

Lol, yeah I already cut it. Starting to get frustrated. May just call it a day and try again tomorrow.

Oh, the torch seems to be missing from the shop at the moment. Hence the cut and weld.

It's hard to say without seeing it.

We have a similar guy in or shop, I usually don't even bother and just give it to him and come back it 10 minutes and what would have taken me a half hour is done. Truly am art.

I finally got the pieces straight. Ended up using a little heat and the harbor freight bender to get the job done. :)

Working on a Model A frame for a hotrod project. It needs to support 500hp, up a little from the factory 26hp. First step is boxing it, then I'm going to Z it to lower the center section, then make a transmission and center section stiffener/crossmember.

    ...too much shit to list.
Why not just build a new frame? Doesn't look like there's much to that frame at all.

Nostalgia mainly. It will have the same suspension setup as a Model A, so keeping the frame makes things easy. But the sad thing is this frame is thicker than a taco frame, and has zero rot from 80 years of being outside. Some surface pitting, but it's solid as can be. It twists like a mofo with no center structure though, so I'm going to tie it together with triangulated 2x4" tube.

Picked up a Handler 125 this week. Never welded before but I have welding needs for a Cafe Racer build I'm working on. Seat tabs, tail hoop, rear sets etc. etc. A buddy of mine a welding supply house gave me some scrap and I've been practicing. Nowhere near as pretty as the welds in this thread but everybody has to start somewhere. :)

Nice. I bought the Hobart 140 a couple years ago. They are good machines, especially for us beginners ... decent quality and good price. I'm in the same boat with weld quality, but have done a few small projects / repair.
    Good luck with it.

Considering picking up a Lincoln PowerMig 210 MP as my first personal welder, mainly because of the mig/tig/stick capabilities of it.

We use Miller TIGs at work with the same amperage range and they cost more than the Lincoln which also does MIG.

Anyone have any thoughts on it?

The multi process machines are real nice. I'm getting the 350mp next.
