Almost done.. This mofo is getting heavy..

The existing benches use pipe to couple the seating area to the uprights; mostly because they are sleeved w/set screw for shipping. Already checked with my powdercoater and he can handle the fully assembled weight..

Think I'm going to substitute 3/8 flat bar for tube. Stronger.

    Thoughts?

Unless that guy is making thousands, it's gonna be expensive.

Still interested to hear about performance though.

    Looks cool.

I saw a really super nice bench built by a blacksmith somewhere in Napa/Sonoma area--I wish I could remember the name. The bench had some really beautiful hand formed grape leaves/vines incorporated in it's mostly square stock construction. The finish was acid wash with some kind of clear coat.

You have to pay to play young grasshopper! Not sure if you have Tig welded much stainless but it LOVES!!! Argon and the more gas coverage the better. Everyone I have talked too on these cups say it's worth the money hands down.

They are not for heavy pipe/Fabrication welding they for the delicate work.

I little test coupon on mild steel. Keep in mind I have very limited time behind the torch so the #weldporn will not be posted just yet ;)

The cup is nice the most thing I like about it is the tungsten stick out you can see more clearly.

    Settings
    .120 Mild steel
    Miller Dynasty 280 water cooled
    peddle down dabbing
    140A
    30cfh gas flow
    3/32 tungsten stickout at 1"
    3/32 filler rod

I don't want to come across as an overzealous prick. But shit.

You've got a picture right in your ad with no gloves, no leather and shorts. With a little kid, on a wood bench.

"Rylee taught me how to weld, so I built this trailer for my truck. Then it broke and killed 3 people".

I know. Life's too short to get wrapped up in other people's shit. But seriously.

    I did like the artwork.

Get rid of the poor safety practice pics and he would have no issue from me.

Anyone in nh have an arc welder I can borrow, or they want to get rid of cheap. I don't need anything huge.

I too am looking to get into welding, and would love to learn. I think the local County colleges have courses, but does anyone know of any other weekend workshops in the Raleigh, NC area?

    Yeah roger, Kirk..

I agree - but I just see the potential for way too much liability if one of his "students" goes out and builds a trailer, welds on a vehicle frame, etc.

    All I see are tacks.

I'd hate to see a "tacked" trailer kill a bus load of nuns and starving orphans then careen into a daycare..

    Maybe I'm just anal.

I hope that his main gig was just to help people create art. Non of those pics showed anything about structural welding. I hope he stresses that in his sales pitch.
