    Not sure, I know there's 5-8's and 4 shifts, 0600-1400, 1400-2200, 2200-0600, and 0000-0600.

And you can work Saturday and Sunday if you want.

    Thanks guys, I'm pretty happy.

Yeah, gonna keep doing what I've been doing, and in January I'm gonna take the night class so I can stay up on practice to pass the X-ray test easier.

1/8" or 11ga. Steel square tubing( 2"x2") is thick enough for the frame and bracing of a flatbed build , right? Its going to get a 1/4" sheet for a top plate as well...

    Any opinions ?

I'm gonna say your material choices are too heavy. I used .120 wall on my bed and could have gotten away with a lighter gauge, or larger spacing between the supports. The 1/4" deck is overkill as well. I'd go for 1/8" aluminum diamond plate. Pricey, but worth the weight savings.

One of these days I'm going to rip the UHMW deck off of mine and go back with aluminum diamond plate. But I have bigger fish to fry at the moment.

Hmmm. The 11ga(.120 wall) seems to be pretty thin. Going thinner worries me a tad for strength. What would you recommend for the frame then?

As for the deck... You're right. But if the deck is gonna be aluminum then I'd want at least 1/4". Or would you still say 1/8"?

The weight wasn't a major thing because with it being a single cab... I honestly thought some weight on the ass end would make it ride and flex better ? Plus if I went with a steel deck, I could easily weld and modify it whenever.

Aluminum... well I'd have to find someone to let me borrow their shop and tig rig for that pretty much. So not real sure on that choice yet.

Either way, both decks are gonna get covered up with the horse stall mat material they sell at feed stores. I really enjoy the rubber matting more than a straight steel deck.

I get my lay off from work Friday so I'll be working on it sometime after the holidays. Just trying to plan, price, and order everything now for the build.

You'll be skinning the deck with aluminum, so no need to weld it.

11gauge is plenty. If you're worried about the decking sagging then add intermediate supports out of angle.

10-4 thanks Nathan! I'm sure this won't be the last time I talk about it on here. Fun part is gonna be building a compartment for the fuel filler neck and cap.
