Nice. It's a good process to focus on. A lot of large fab jobs use that process. Pay attention to that. And don't be that guy who doesn't know how to use a torch. Haha.

That's pretty much what we did at my school, but we had 3/8 plate and 1/4 backing strap. I think we may have set our machines at 24.5 though.

Just how did you manage to burn your hand ??

I seem to only burn myself trying to cook.

Students are missing quite a lot not learning Oxy-fuel welding

OA cutting. Learn to cut, then with a guide, then practice freehand. Learn how to cut tanks (verified to not be under pressure or flammable) that are filled with water. All skills that will make you marketable to an employer.

Oxy fuel welding is neat. I believe the local Tec still does a class on it. Great for remote work. But luckily the genny fits in the bed of the truck these days. Haha.

I am sorry for your loss!!

I wish you the best of Luck!!

Very many of my Distributors will no longer sell Esab products or any of the rest of the companies they own and are trying there best to destroy .

Now it takes months to get simple parts I have a few customers machines failed out of the box never having struck a arc .

I like the wood blocks with the cut outs for the tank. I replace my chains with web straps. No more rattling around with the can cinched up tight to the cradles.
