Hey man, you got it good in a way too. You can’t smell all the awful stuff either. Gear oil, cow crap, vomit (which makes me wanna vomit), baby crap (oh my goodness), body odor, and all kinds of other nasty smells

Guess while we're on the subject, exhaust fans & fume control are very important too. Imho, it's the difference between a "blacksmith" & a Pro. Your thoughts?

I might not smell it but I still gag cleaning up vomit! Or when the dog poops on his blanket lol.

Body odor is always a weird one for me since people always bring it up at work.

I try my best to make sure there is plenty of fresh air coming in when im welding/grinding Usually just means having the garage door open is enough. If im going to be doing a bunch of welding/grinding ill plug in a box fan or two at the back of the garage but usually everything flows out the garagedoor on its own just fine.

    Welders,
Vulcan MigMax 215 OR Hobar 210MVP
    Thoughts?
Vulcan is $705 with 3 year warranty.
Hobart is $799 with the 5/3/1 warranty.
I am a novice welder and will only use it on weekend proyects. I will be using gas.

(This is not the HF tool thrad by the way.)

    Any input is appreciated.

    Tough choices!

I've looked at that HF welder and I can not be impressed enough. Of course, I've never welded with it, but really want to.

All my welding equipment for the last 25 years has been Miller, but the Vulcan units compare very competitive. A 1 year, unconditional warranty is showing me they are very confident in their product.

I had my plasma (Miller) lose a solinoid at the 15 month time. It still cost me $250 to get it fixed.

With that said, you can get the welder, spool gun and TIG gun cheaper than I bought my last base unit.

The drive on the mig unit of any welder is the weak link. These Vulcan units do not have have plastic or pot metal drives. I can't find a reason not to think these are lifetime welding rigs.

With all that said, I'm not a fan of multi purpose machines. I'm pro MIG. I have no use for TIG welding. Our lifespans are not long enough to master TIG and MIG. MIG gets the work done.

Spool guns are just a form of MIG welding.

This is all that comes to mind.

If YOU have to return your unit to the factory for warranty work, then a year coverage is not worth much. Might be different if you could take the unit to HF for an exchange.

Miller warranty is three years and they have repair facilities around the country.

Hf has an unconditional warranty. If it dies in less than a year, you get all your money back...which you can spend on a Miller rig.

With that said, HF stores are open every night until at least 9. Most Miller dealers are closed at 5 and not open on weekends.

I'm trying hard not to like the Vulcan units, but just can't find a deal killing down side.

You want to demo a 350P with one Aluma Pro Gun or another !!

Yet don`t want to spend a few dollars to test drive one of these Vulcan welders ??

Then take it back when it breaks .

Are you sure it is cash back or a machine exchange ??

If I did not have so much extra work I would go check this out more in depth

I've been googleing vulcan welders and I found nothing but good reviews/comments overall. Including weldingweb and some other welding forums.

Who can say my questions are from what I see every day

Operator error becomes a warranty claim in the eyes of the end user .

It pays the bills @ $100.00 to install a new liner

From people not taking time or unable to read the users manual.

Feed problems from never changing the liner or figuring the best wire feed is when the drive tension can no longer be tightened. with vice grips

It will be interesting to see if money is returned on all the welders returned .

I'll be watching too. As often as I go in the place, just ask if they are getting the Vulcan welders back.

If the Air Solenoid went out on your plasma unit from moisture in the air Then I could see it was not covered under warranty

Then I am still a Torch Person .

I find Tig welding not all that different then Mig maybe easier .Because it is so pure .

Then the prep time is much longer!!

It comes down to just what your doing on the vehicles I work on I would never even think about using Tig

Depending what codes you are certified under .

I forget the time it also may have changed since mine were current .

If you don`t weld to that code for a period of time it might have been 6 months might have been 3

Then the strictest code grandfathers all the lesser codes

    You have to retest !!

Then anymore it is rare that new hires don`t retest

The more Lawyers the more these things get changed

That is the first bad review I have seen on that helmet. Did it just flash you once? What was the battery level? What about the settings? Did they give you your money back?
