Bad ass. I'm just a structural welder at the moment until I get perfect at pipe and tube. Been chasing shutdowns for a few years now. Love it.

You’ll get perfect on the job. Just need to learn the basics and practice does make perfect...

I would run very far from anything related to Esab!!

Not that the product is poor quality .

Parts take forever !! Something simple like a fan motor 2 months

Now that they bought Thermal Dynamics awhile back they are getting just as bad

I think we had 2 Esab reps quit in the past few months

    Bunch of stuff
So I know this was talked about a while back but I thought I’d bring it up. Not much to do with welding but more fabricating. I’m building a lot of stuff where I’m required to drill 1/2” holes and I feel like my 1/2” drill bits get dull so fast and chip and crap like that. I hate spending $19 per 1/2” cobalt drill bit but they cut the best so that’s why I buy them. I have about 15 dull ones sitting in my tool box and I said “screw it, I’m gonna buy a drill doctor for myself!”

I got it last night and just tried it out. Super easy to learn how to use and I just sharpened 3 1/2” drill bits in less than 5 mins and they all cut like butter! So if anyone was skeptical about buying one like I was, is constantly drilling holes, and needs a better way than constantly buying new bits, then the drill doctor is awesome. Gonna save me a good amount of money in bits and it won’t take long to recover that money with all the drill bits I won’t be going through anymore.

This bit had a big ole chip taken out of the cutter and it looks brand new now and cuts awesome!!

Oh, yeah! I love mine! Much money saved with this jewel.

I have better luck using high speed steel bits. They sharpen faster. The cobalt coated drills are pretty much the same once you sharpen them once.

We're these welds done in the shop or in the field? Very nice, regardless.

What are you using Drill press , Mag Drill or by hand

Just what are you drilling all the holes in??

    What speed are you running??

What Lube are you using ??

I have a Cobalt 1/2 bit I bought back in 1989 never been touched

Since 1/2" is a size I use quite often

A lot of people don't realize how fast drill speed can dull a bit.

Mild steel usually 3/16 or 1/4”

I run it at a slow RPM with my cordless dewalt

I use tap magic cutting oil

I have the unfortunate luck of chipping bits haha. I do realize if I was using my drill press for these things that I’d not run into this problem as often since it’s less likely to get messed up since it’s going perfectly down in a straight line. However, many of the things I’m drillinb into I can’t really use my drill press on because they’re too big or just too oddly shaped

Just got a square wave 200! Double the cost of my 190 handler but the build quality looks top notch. Can’t wait to practice tig. I have alot of stainless and aluminum coming up for my turbo project so this will be fun!55B02F8E-D81D-4BF4-A404-A2DFE92D32D3.jpg

I sharpen by hand. Problem with Drill Doctor is it doesn’t address back cutting the web. If I have to hand thin the web I might as well just do the whole thing by hand. I know I have a drill doctor somewhere in the garage. Haven’t seen it since our last move 5 years ago and I probably haven’t touched it for a few years before that.

The other advantage of hand sharpening is you can alter your angles based on material being cut. I use different angles depending on steel, stainless, aluminum or plastics.

Why? What is the issue with them? I’ve heard Lincolns are usually stout
