Got the volt meter give this a shot. 2 110v into 1 220v.

I've always wondered if that would work, but was too afraid to try. I still am.

Hopefully have a good update later today on this. But from what I've seen it should work.

It works. The two circuits you plug in to need to be on different phases. And yes I have done it to run a 220v shaper on a job site.

Yea that's where we messed up yesterday. Did more research and found I need to be on 2 different circuits. Much appreciated .

Does it work with inverter machines as well? Just wondering if the extra electronics will be reluctant to allow it?

I don't see why not. The only difference is how the electricity runs from the panel to the machine. Imagine just pulling apart the wire that runs on the 220 circuit and separating the hot leads and wrapping them in an extension cord. Clearest example I can think of.

It's not just different circuits, you need to be on the other phase as well. Pick 2 110V circuits that have the breakers next to each other.

    I'm confused. You go from a 20 amp 120v plug to a 50 amp 240?

Yes, it's a 20A 240v circuit. I used that 50A receptacle because that is to match the 240v plug the machine came with. The MM211 pulls less than 20A anyway.

It's actually a 240v receptacle if you look closely, so you can't plug any 120v stuff into it.

You are right. I didn't notice the orientation on my phone screen. Zooming in, I see there is no way to plug a 120v plug into that.

    Seems like lots of work

I can see if your renting and don`t Have anymore room in the panel and don`t want to install a Sub panel

Your just pulling your two legs off of two different breakers hoping if you have a failure both breakers trip as your Inverter because a paper weight .

That's a good point. I have only done it with motor loads. Not a huge deal if you drop one side with single phase. Three phase is another story, and was an expensive one in my case.
Simply remedy to protect against that is adjacent circuits in a panel and do a temp tie in between the breakers.
Totally separate subject, but my floor guys always give me a coniption when they show up to sand the floors and just clip leads right the the panel bus bars with absolutely no over current protection

I made the cart. It was the very first time I ever welded anything. I figured a project like that would be a good learning experience for a noob.
