Had some time for some edge welding practice. 1/8" angle. Thought it looked decent and didn't melt off the edge.
20180518_220626.jpg Bend test however showed lack of fusion. So back to practicing I go.

Edit:. 3/32" 2% Lanthalated electrode, 3/32 5356 filler, 105 amps but didn't go full pedal.

MIG with a spool gun is awesome! Once dialed in, you can haul ass. 100 percent duty cycle. No stops needed.

Our work welder doesn't require a spool gun for aluminum. My world is stainless though.

Well I didn't end up welding in the patch. I chose to use rivets instead. Worked well I think. And the raptor liner over it filled in the seams nicely (don't have a close up of that though)

Ordered up a couple welding tables from “Weldingtables.com” made by Tab and Slot LLC

Should be here by Wednesday on my birthday, pretty excited about them. They’re weld it yourself JIG tables. I ordered their 2x3 and 3x4 tables so I could make one big 3x6 table.

Here is what they look like

And a couple welds just for fun

Again, it's a shame you have to paint those welds.
