It’ll be bolted with 2 in the front, 4 from the sides, and 4 from the bottom.

I remember people talking about leaving enough of a gap for body flex when I was welding my sliders...

I think you need to prepare yourself for a small amount of thanks.

I built both my front bumpers out of plate. I notice some odd sounds now and again. I'm sure it's from frame flex, but the bumpers prevent it.

    *Thunks.

1/8-1/4” is plenty of gap, at 1/8” you’ll probably have occasional thumps.

Made some progress today. Got all the bolt holes drilled into their ‘brackets’ and burned them onto the main plate.

I wanted to weld everything while it was on the truck so my already haphazard bolt holes would still align after I warp the sh*t out of everything by welding like the amateur I am. Success!! I left it bolted on to cool and hopefully hold shape.

Might take it off and grind down the bad welds. I should do that.

Do I remember correctly... overhead you crank up heat and speed? I had to turn it down a notch, it kept blowing through on the overhead. The gap was a little big...

Those welds look fine for having poor ergonamic conditions.

    You got the basics down.

When I weld upside down I do more "stitch" type welding. You only need to drop 1 drop of molten steel down your arm before you say " fuck it", I'll clean it up with the grinder.

Pull the trigger for 1 sec, let it cool for 1 sec. Repeat.

@koditten hey, I have to say that I always appreciate your feedback. If I’m not mistaken, you’ve been welding a long while and having review from veterans like you and @Wyoming09 really boosts my confidence and desire to keep going

So :hattip: hats off to you sirs for offering your wisdom.

Crap!! Who are all those guys from SoCal that always chime in too!!

All in all a big thank you to everyone on here. This is the bomb thread. GOAT

When I weld overhead I just TIG. I love MIG when I need to get something done fast but I just love the control I have with TIG.

My coworker keeps telling me I'll learn to stick overhead in a hurry by just laying under my weld.

Awe, shucks. You guys say the kindest things.

Good thing I'm sitting in the garage, my head has swollen so much I can't fit it thru a normal sized door.

How do you keep your helmet on? When I weld upside down one hand has to hold my welding hood on. I must have a funny shaped head. That fucker can fall off when I'm standing up right.

Do the head nod thing to drop your shield? No way have I ever been able to do that. I'm not tossing a $300 hood across the floor on purpose.

Mine fits fine, using a Miller digital elite.

I can also hang upside down with my hard hat on so I guess my head is just right.

And I can, though I usually have it set really tight so it stays the fuck up when I want it up.

I’m just a little :jellydance:! I really need a shop separate from the house. Of course then I’d never go inside :notsure:

It is a balancing act. I get the "look" all too often from the wife.

If I were out there playing with a project for myself I’d absolutely get that look. If I were making money she’d tell me to get busy

You know. If the shoe fits...

I've always liked your trailer design, straight forward and simple. But curious. if you don't mind sharing. What is the size of the frame? Thanks . John M
