First project with my bender and its looking good so far. Nothing too extraordinary, just some hoops on my high clearance rear bumper to give it a little more character. Going to weld them in when the weather gets nice enough I can paint them and leave the truck outside over night.

I love this JD2 bender, by the way. Wonderful product so far. With some self education on the bending process, its really not all that hard to get a nice final product. Thanks for the recommendation!

Of course my dude! It’s a game changer right???

I love being able to smoothly and precisely bend tube where I want it to go! If you ever find yourself doing projects for other people or bending tubing on a regular basis and you wanna take a lot of the math/guess work out of the whole process, I really suggest bendtech pro. It’s like $300 and it only works on PC platform but it’s a game changer for bending complex tubing projects. There are tons of stock templates that you can choose from to base your designs off of and plug in your measurements that you want the part to be and it’ll tell you how much material you need, where the bends start down to the 1/8” and how many degrees to make each bend. And if you hav a piece of tubing that needs to be bent on different planes it’ll tell you how many degrees you need to rotate as well!

Very cool. I'm currently using Solidworks to get my bends mapped out but since its not a dedicated tubing program is takes a little more work if I had to guess. I need to look in to possibly getting an add-on that does tubing. I believe there is one out there, just have to look.

Here's a model I through together last night of a tire carrier I'm building for a buddy of mine as a first real project. Should come together nicely if I follow my own directions. Haha.

    Well then!!!

That’s way cooler haha. I’m stupid when it comes to CAD software. I just started playing around on Autodesk Fusion 360 and it seems pretty user friendly so that’s probably what I’ll continue to use when my plasma table comes in!

I like what you have come up with there. I’m assuming that the ends of the low round tube at the bottom backside are where the tube bolts into the bolts that attach the bed to the frame? Having the tire over to the left that far doesn’t interfere with the wheel well hump in the bed?

The "tire cage", if you can call it that, bolts in to the front bed bolts. From what I can tell, it shouldn't interfere but we will see when I get the tubing bent. May have to make some adjustments. I think to avoid some potential flopping, I'm also going to weld in some tabs so I can run some bolts from the cage to the front bed rail. That will give it 4 points to be secured instead of the two I've currently got.

    Some help needed here.
I'm sure I can find/cut the proper angle if I wanted the tube to be angled to the plate (base) (see pic 1), but I want it at an angle (see pic2). So how do I determine how to cut it? I understand the complexity of explaining over letters but any help is appreciated.
And this is just get it angled. The opposite side will be another mission.

The way I’d do it is look at the piece of tubing and the side where you want to attach it directly head on from the front of the truck and draw a line as parallel downward on the piece of tubing as you can and cut with a grinder if that makes sense

Ok. What IF I get the notch first. I'll probably use that small piece to get the right notching angle first. I think figuring the angle to weld to a flat surface is easier. What do you think?
