Probably the same or close to it. Mine uses an air/ hydrologic ram. Can do both 90deg or 180deg bends to 2" with pro tools die. I could email them to you if you want.

    Awesome!

I'm in the planning stages of building a CNC plasma table.

I WILL be hitting you up. Be warned.

What rods are you using? Those look great!

I can finally participate in this thread. I have only welded mig before a few times using my friends machine, saw this on Craigslist for $60 and scooped it up. Between the welder and 15lbs of rods I'm only $100 into it. Really want to get good at it before I take on some of my smaller projects I have set aside. I figure if I can get this down, I can transfer some of the skills I learn (like patience lol) when I get a nice 220 Mig setup one day.

Here are the first beads at 75 amps on 6011.

    And at 60 amps:

I clearly have a lot of practice ahead of my but I'm stoked to get going. I jumped too fast from laying a bead to trying to join two pieces together IMO. I need to practice lighting the arc a bunch first, I'm like Michael J Fox trying to get a bead going. Once it's going I can see the pool and what not, but striking the arc was very frustrating at first. So I figure I'll give a solid start stop practice, then move to filling a coupon with beads, then work on joints. I feel if I said fuck it and jumped into a project, it's going to turn out like shit.

    Congrats on the rig!
I first self learned on a stick, Great skill to have. I forget my exact method of striking an arc, but I do remember sometimes knocking off some of the powder on the sticks so that I could make a connection to my work ( right or wrong, that's what I did ) Also some one passed on to me some tips to keep the spatter down. when you are ready to work on a project, pick up some nozzle spray ( not gel ) and spray your work and surrounding area ( what you think will get spatter ). most of the spatter will just fall right off, and you can weld through the spray ( some one please pipe up if this compromises the weld, I'd hate for some one to take my advice and build something structural / life dependent and have it fail )

doing those two things I was able to produce some decent welds that are still holding up today ( 10+ years later )

Good Luck! and keep posting pics!

I've heard of doing that with pam cooking spray. Just helps the spatter come off easily.

Do you just keep them in an air tight container? No way for me to get a rod oven lol.

According to this, directly on the joint is no good.

    https://www.bakersgas.com/weldmyworld/2012/03/04/tips-for-reducing-spatter-when-using-a-mig-welder/

Figure I can I always hold my finger on the joint, spray, then go to town. Awesome tips, thank's guys! I definitely plan on posting progress, I want to get really good at this since it's my only source for welding at home currently. I was hoping to be able to use it to weld a nut to a snapped stud in my motorcycle motor but I need even more practice before I can take on such a difficult task. That's where MIG would really be nice.

@cynicalrider Since your welder is only AC you will need AC 7018 rods. It the ones you have are marked 7018 AC you're good otherwise not. You might want to try some 7014, an easy to start rod. Also 6011 & 6013 can be run on AC. Practice with critic: pictures on this site or if you know some that welds.

I didn't buy 70 anything yet because of it's maintenance requirements for moisture exposure, but def saw that I need to get the AC specific ones. Right now I have 3/32 6011, 1/8 6011, and 3/32 6013. Just gotta get a ton of seat time in.
