    Getting better I think.

Finished this and painted it. Now it just needs the bolts to be attached to my bed rail.

My dad trusted me enough to weld some "gussets" on his RC truck's control arm. Apparently the crap metal keeps cracking in one spot from jumping it and rolling it.

    That's the truck.

I really want to get a welder and learn how to weld. There are too many projects that need welding on my truck so its about time I learn how to do it myself.

Looking at the millermatic 211. It's pricey but I don't want something that will be difficult to learn on.

    Hey,

Just got a Wicked Flow muffler and talked to an exhaust shop in town. In your guy's opinion, whats better MIG or TIG (idk if thats even the right name) weld jobs. My only understanding is that TIG looks better? but idk. The shop said they use MIG on stuff like exhaust mufflers and tips. Is that ok? Said it was like 40 dollars to weld the muffler and tip. Help?

While Millers are nice, I'd buy this before the Miller 211:
    http://cyberweld.com/tharcfa21miw.html

It's multi process capable so you can Mig, stick, and tig with it and it can take a spool gun for aluminum welding too.
Basically you wouldn't out grow this machine unless you start production welding or need to weld much thicker metal

That's a hell of a machine. Seems like something definitely worth taking a class before trying to use.

What do you use for your relentless stuff?

When you're joining dissimilar metals, brazing is sometimes a better choice because the temp required to join material is lower (in other words, welding dissimilar thickness or materials is sometimes difficult and results in blowing through the thinner material.).

True. What is a good, cheap rod to use with brazing? I would probably braze steel and aluminum

I don't know much about brazing aluminum to steel. I'd ask at a local welding store or search the welding forums for an answer. Depends on thickness I'd guess and I'm guessing it will require good technique heating the metals too.

I meant aluminium to aluminum and steel to steel. I should've worded that different.

Might as well just get into gas welding or buy a mig.

I want to do MIG, but I wanna do brazing since I'm only almost 18 without a job as of now and I'll only need to do a few really small projects.

Brazing is a good skill to learn. You might not do a lot of it but if you can, it's another tool in the box.

That too. Never hurts to learn something new. Plus it takes a little more skill than welding IMO. But I want to do both if I ever had the chance to weld
