I did the same to my gun. Just took a hair off, so it’s flush with the tip. I like it a lot.

It seems to have helped. From the factory, the tip was recessed almost 1/2" so without touching the workpiece and being able to see the puddle, I had about 1" stick out minimum.

Oh man that’s a huge difference. That’s one of Jodie’s biggest tips from weldingtipsandtricks.com is to cut it flush for that very reason.

    Odd. I'm the opposite.

I pull the cup out so the contact tips is recessed 1/8" or so.

I guess I never knew that it helped with seeing the puddle.

My subconscious must be using sound to let me know if I have the best weld happening.

    Cool, im still learning .

This is a pretty dumb little thing but it's the exact kind of reason why I wanted to own a welder and become at least somewhat competent with it for the self sufficiency it could provide.
The latch for my swing out broke. A replacement isnt available locally so I'll have to order one. Instead of removing the swingout or parking the truck, I spent about 30 seconds on a temporary repair.15558693486093470016921503733847.jpg

That’s what it’s all about man. A welder opens up a lot of doors for little shit like this.

Just some practice beads. I tried pushing a few beads since I always pull. And I really wanted to practice being more consistent and in a straight line. I have a long ways to go.

I also tried setting my M-211 to the 100% co2 setting while using C25.....looks like crap.

Pushing is my go to style.

    Those welds look great.

Thanks, it's too bad that I can't weld like that 100% of the time.

I prefer to pull as well. Did some push practice and I just don’t find myself as consistent.

Yeah, I'm going to keep practicing pushing because the bead comes out nice and flat looking.

Since much of my welding is with me out of position Which ever direction I can see the best gets used.

In fact I really don`t think about things like that very often.

Yes, that's another reason I should be practicing pushing. So I can do whatever the position calls for. That's my problem now, I'm not good at all positions.

I welded a set of sliders on someone’s truck today. Really dropped me down a few notches in where I thought I was skill wise, because that that was tricky. All the out of position and cramped quarters made it hard to make a good looking bead.

    At least I hope so.

Lol. I worried about mine on the mule until I dropped it off a pretty large ledge. Got out and was like hot damn, they held

I’m sure they’ll be alright, there’s A LOT of weld area on each slider. I just like nice looking welds even if it’s not the most important.
Bahaha that’s one way to test it. At least this guy who’s truck I welded them onto doesn’t actually wheel. Probably coulda thrown a few good tacks on there and called it good lol
