A battery powered angle grinder is nice when you snap a CV on the trail but aren't in a good place to change it yet.

 

Be curious to see how you find the battery life. I have the Ryobi brushless grinder and found all it's really good for is quick little thing. Cutting a bolt off for example. Or cutting for a cab mount chop. Anything longer was meh. Even with plenty of batteries

Nothing beats a corded version.

Away from the shop they can't be beat. I just used one to cut off a frozen berring race off a spindle.

They may not last long, but they are invaluable when away from A/C power.

In short, not really gonna gain you much in the shop, but will make you a believer when away from the home base.

I won't judge on which brand is better because they all have short battery life compared to a cordless drill.

Hubby(@thebannedGod) has the Milwaukee and says the 9.0 and 12.0 batteries both have good life. But two corded ones are still in use.

 

In an odd way i loved the air powered 7" bayflex grinders. Never got hot, could run those bastards forever, and the exhaust air felt damn nice when inside a hot ass tank on a hot day. Granted we have basically unlimited ~100psi air (i dont remember exactly) at work to run them.

But yeah i wont be getting rid of my corded. Its nice to have three set up for grinding, flap disc...ing, and a cut off wheel and just grab whichever one is needed.

I only have the 6.0AH ryobi...im sure the 9.0 and 12.0 ones would last longer. (well think ryobi has only take the 9.0 so far).

 

I'm really only gonna use it for deburring and light grinding. Any heavy cutting or heavy grinding I'll grab the corded

Sounds perfect. I didnt mean to sound like i was saying don buy one. I use mine some what often for exactly as you described. One of those nice tools ot have in the shop but not going to replace a corded one

Depends who you ask...some its a like 1000grit....others it like a 20grit lol
