Finally got the new machine powered up and welding. Still have a lot of work to do to dial it in and knock off all my rust. Probably have to put a few more hours in on coupons and scrap before I start my real projects. First bead in over 15 years on a new machine turned out decent... (but still lots of practice/dialing in needed)

We use these clamps at work called Proburgers that are very similar to a cheseboro clamp but with a wingnut instead and usually made of aluminum vs steel. Sometimes dudes tighten them on very tight and they’re difficult to get off after they’ve sat holding something together for 4-6 months long through the duration of shooting a TV show. More times than I can count I’ve used my crescent wrench to try to loosen the wingnut and I’ll break one of the wings on the wingnut which is really annoying. There is a special “pro burger wrench” that exists but it costs more than I wanted to pay so I made my own to fit the wingnut so that I wouldn’t break anymore wingnuts and make it easier to loosen.

Man that’s awesome. Sounds like Joe at mobtown and his new plasma. Finds all sorts of misc little shit to cut out on it. The other day we needed to press some rubber bushings out of 4runner links, so he cut out a perfect diameter circle out of scrap 1/4” and pressed them out no issue.

Thanks dude! It’s so rad to be able to cut out a bunch of stuff that you need. The difference is Joe’s table is waaaay bigger and more badasser than mine hahaha but I’m happy with my little table. Perfect for home shop!

I’ve also made some BBQ gas baffles since the original ones from my BBQ rusted and crumbled

Also started cutting out some knife blanks for fun and I’m gonna make my dad a hunting knife for his birthday!

And a bunch of 2nd gen CB antenna mounts

It comes back real fast !!

Most times you turn the welder on some fine tuning is needed due to the ever changing conditions .

Gusseted my spindles today. They came out pretty good, but I didn't care too much how these welds looked. Just wanted to get the bastards on.

Yeah this is just some cheap insurance and doesn't give me the golden ticket to go jump my truck off stuff. I just don't want to tweak a spindle with the spirited driving I like to do off road.

Excellent! Many are not aware that the spindles are a designed failure point before you may do real damage to the frame.

So I made a fishing rod holder out of a bolt and scrap 2 inch pipe, anyone have advice because it keeps falling over with a rod in it.

Leave some thread exposed between the t-nut and the pipe. Thread a jam nut on then thread into t-nut. Tighten jam nut against the t-nut.

One bolt becomes an axle essentially. Weld a piece of flat bar around 4-5” long behind that round tube and weld a bolt to each side of the flat bar that way there is no way of that round tube spinning downward

2 attachment points or it will keep spinning on the one bolt axle .

1 small piece of angle on either side will work also.

my go to for things like this to beads of black silicone on both sides

Not knowing just how it is attached getting things tight enough with just one might pull it out
