I like Thermal Dynamics, now victor, owned by Esab. They had 4 year warranties, and gave a credit if you upgraded from a different brand to theirs. $10 per amp, so if your 50 amp Miller died, they gave you $500 credit towards a victor machine of the same amps or larger.

Finally went back to work. Really just took a job because nothing good has come my way.
Working for $12.00 an hour less then I was making. Corporate event planning company. People are nice, lots of work. Been getting 15 hours of OT a week so far. Shop is basic, one other welder who could give a shit if he is there or not, shop has basic stuff, Scotchman, Lincoln migs, syncrowave 250 dx Tig, roll bender, drill press and sander grinder. I brought my own tools and cart with the basics. my supervisor doesn't know shit and is a young guy, but he is nice and knows I know a lot more then him. They hand you a picture, or do a basic drawing in a dry erase board and wwalk away.Ihave mostly been doing steel and aluminum, but have worked in the wood shop a couple of days . All in all it's good to be back to work, but I am still sending out my resume.
Trade show, corporate event, party function work is fast paced and not about quality.
    Cheers.
New shop and some shizzle I glued up this week.

Sorry you were treated that way most times your talking to someone in front of a computer that has no clue only reading what they see on line.

Sadly what happened to you is quite common as far as a like new machine used once or twice put aside and forgotten about even distributors manage to misplace machines till the warranty expires .

Most times we can only guess as to why something failed a component fails rendering a $1000.00 board useless.

As to waterproofing Lincoln is by far the worst or best depending Miller has never been that bad that things can`t be removed without causing more damage that is where the problem lies.

Just be sure to get all the details of the warranty and how things play out

This literally happened to @Chux with a machine he got for free IIRC.

    Thank you.

Yeah, I get it. I was just venting a bit because overall I hate the "throw away and buy new" mentality we're all stuck with these days. There are a thousand reasons for it and we all share some responsibility for it, but I still hate it.

BTW, I also think I was a bit upset because I really love my Hobart welder, so when I got the plasma, I thought, "man I am setup for many happy years". I know Hobart/Miller make good stuff.

    Your very Welcome!

I deal with it all the time.

How do you draw the line who do you donate a control board to ??

Why this person but not the next .

I will say Miller did step up and donate a Miller Bluestar Control board to the Local Boy Scout Camp

If you have the Part Number PM it to me with the Serial # no promises but I can check the price

Anyone have any recommendations for slider systems? I need to build a tray that can hold a 37” tire and be easy to slide in and out even in the weather. Being able to lock it would be even better. Just need the sliding mechanisms.

You can get heavy duty slides but if you're a competent welder just get some urethane wheels to mount on the tray itself. Use the bed grooves or C-channel as wheel guides. I use a pulley to haul my tool drawer up against the cab and tie it off with a boat cleat. A gate latch would do fine at either end to lock it in/out.

Where is it going in the bed or underneath ??

How far will the sliding part need to extend unsupported ?? That is where figuring out things becomes critical .

Anything exposed to the weather is going to need constant attention just the dust and grit from driving throw in some moisture .

Just opening a drawer in my Snap On Box in the shop that seldom gets used can be a pain at times

Underneath a bed. Not directly exposed to elements but will be on a offroad trailer so I’m sure nature will find a way to get in there. Just want to be able to slide a spare tire under a floor basically
