Well that sucks. I was thinking I could throw two little triangle gussets on them but there doesn't really seem to be enough room. Is there any way to strengthen them? I know for the rear I could just get a hitch with a shackle but where would I do for the front?

I lost track thousands of dollars ago.
Yeah there is cut those off and cut a hole in your bumper and weld new ones right along side of that 1/4" plate.

    This.

Might be hard to tell because I had to shoot the picture through a hole in the bumper :D

But you can see that line that's at the "bottom" of the picture is the recovery point and you're looking at the back of the bumper. Hard to tell but the point is welded all the way around the back and the front.

Hmm. I'll talk to a guy at work. I recently found out he does a lot of fabrication work and may be able to help me when he's back from KOH.

I've been wanting to get another welder since I gave my old 110 Lincoln to my pops and have been searching high and low. Being tax season and all I wanted to put out a little money so I can make some sliders and other stuff.

    http://www.eastwood.com/mig175-and-versa-cut-plasma-cutter-kit.html

I don't plan on welding anything more than about 3/16" steel. I know Miller, Lincoln and Hobarts seem like the go tos, but what is your take on this?

As far as the plasma cutter, I don't want to have to cut all this metal with a cut off wheel and risk having inconsistencies, but from the reviews, that seems to be the downfall of the package. What's your take?

Can you recommend any other welder/cutter combo or how I can go about this for around $1k?

    Appreciate the input.

Looks nice, I'm mainly concerned with how I'm going to cut all this metal. It seems a good welder that can do what I'm looking for can be had easily for 6-700 bucks.

So how do all you guys cut this large metal without a press or anything like that? Know of any cutters or anything?

If you're cutting tube, a chop saw (metal blade) will do the trick. I suppose you could try a Skill saw or a plasma cutter. Regardless, plasma does not buy consistency.

It'll more than likely be square tubing and sheet metal...I suppose a sawzall would work, but with some sort of guide..a cheaper route as well..

A chop saw would give you accurate cuts as well. Plus if you need To repeat cuts, you can set stops to make all cuts similar.

You can make a jig to help with cutting too.

A jig saw can also work for sheet.

Nice. Can't beat $25 for a nice metal welding table. Mine has a million little metal welding balls (splatter) that need to be sanded off. They're becoming a pain.

Pneumatic shears for thin sheet. I have the IR 20ga and 18ga shears and I have cut my way thru thicker stuff with those
