It’s cause it was flux core. That shit is sooooo easy and burns so smooth. It’s the one thing I’ve always been good at. I hate mig. Love flux lol

I hope it all works out for you! Congratulations!

I applied for a job at a place once that made expanded metal about 20 years ago. The application had a tape measure laid out and you had to write down what measurements were marked. I carried them out to the fourth decimal place. The lady said hold on, the boss will want to talk to you. Turns out he was in a meeting at the time, I never heard back from them after that.

Making more slow progress. Will be adding an "x" over the roof next.

I am welding whatever I can catch with the torch and will be hoisting up the cage after it is done to be able to weld the underneath.

I’ve always been interested in learning how to weld, but not much time to learn. 1-10 how hard is it to learn?

Wow I am not sure like anything else some people pick it up fast others can learn but tend to just be average.

The better your hand eye coordination the easier it might be.

How bad you want to learn plays in .

It comes down to the basic understanding what you want done and to make it happen every time

    ^^^This.

My dad has an old Lincoln tombstone stick welder. I was 10 years old and ask him to show me how to weld, I remember it like it was yesterday. It was game on for me after that, I was burning rods as fast as he could buy them. That was 34 years ago.

Some people weld better than others, it truly is a talent. The guy who works out in the shop with me is in his 60’s and tries to weld, he can but it’s not pretty. He’ll admit that too.

The best advice is find a friend who has a welder and give it a try.

Buy a MIG welder with about 120-160amp capability, with argon CO2. Watch some videos and read a little. Get some clean 1/8" mild steel for practice. You'll be welding good enough to hold metal together in 2-3 hours.

The 1-10 thing just depends on welding type, metals being welded, shape of the metals, etc... to many variables to assign a value.

Thanks brother. I appreciate it. I figure if I'm going through all this trouble, I might as well make it legit.

Please be careful. My brother in law burned his truck up this last weekend.

Welding with flux core and a hot ignighted some sound deadening material. Cab corner and up the inside of the cab burnt pretty good...stinks bad too.

In glad he was there to put it out. This situation is my biggest fear. I hate welding on vehicle sheet metal!
