Looks killer. The only way to make it better is if it were a regular cab.

I’ve been re-building my front bumper from my original mount in between helping the wife and infant baby boy and remotely returning to work from paternity leave. Life feels full! My shop is tiny and I do all my wedding outside, so the rain has been limiting me too.

Also, I don’t know how to use my plasma cutter :anonymous:

what’s up with all this slag? I’m using a straight edge to guide the torch. Travel speed? Air pressure?

using a 30 amp machine. Viper cut 30. I haven’t used it in a while but I swapped out new consumables before starting to cut for the bumper rebuild.

This is the backside to some of the cuts

    Reserected from the dead.
Are you using a drag tip?

With a plasma torch, with a drag tip, you actually let the torch tip contact the metal to be cut.

As a former gas torch user, this was very difficult for me to get past.

Show the sides of the cuts.
I'm the furthest thing from an expert, but the sweep of the cuts can speak to the travel speed.

Question for y'all: I'm welding some 0.065 1" square tube and having problems with burn through where my joint has a gap. Turned power all the way down, but i'm still burning a hole. Is the gap the problem? If so, is there a way to bridge it without burning? Or do i just need to re do my joint geometry. (Was trying to go quick and dirty on this project) Hints? Tips? THX!

You could try a series of spot welds to stitch the gap closed. Allow the metal to cool a bit before zapping again. You’ll probably end up with a rhythm like: zap, 2, 3, 4, zap, 2 , 3, 4... I’ve used that method for thin wall and it works quite well. You can grind for cosmetics afterwards.

I literally went through this exact same issue this weekend.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/anything-welding.113957/page-805#post-23184611

Per the advice of some other members I switched from 0.030” to 0.023” wire in my Multimatic 215. Makes a huge difference in how the machine handles the thin material. Makes it a lot easier to work the bead and bridge gaps.

I went from burning through almost every weld with 0.030” to not at all with 0.023”
