    Custom body work/damage ARB rear locker Bumpers Shocks Other parts Tires and Rims Air tank fully plumbed into truck "Golf ball mod"
    A mixed gas conducts electricity a wee bit, in turns it helps with more heat at the weld. Mig welding with pude argon will leave a weld looking like a cold weld with lots of sharpish corners, and it will seem like you have yo have your welder turned way up to get decent penetration

    Ok so we can use this tank and just turn the voltage up a tad, and when the tank is empty get mixed gas?

    That is what I would do.
    I ran off straight argon for a while, just because I have a tig and and mig and only wanted to buy one bottle. But I am very happy with going with a mixed gas for mig. Gives much smoother welds. Now I jyst need to pick a small argon So I can use my tig again...

    I don't think the 135 has the powder to do that. If you were to Mig weld with 100% argon you would want to be welding in a spray transfer not short-circuit transfer and the 135 can't weld in spray.

    Wait, so are you saying that you can run a mix with alum. mig? Or are you saying that you need 100% argon? I've been wanting to setup my machine to do aluminum or steel and am trying to figure out the best way to go about it. I thought that someone told me once, that you needed 100% CO2 for aluminum. If you can use mix then that will make it easy, otherwise I though about setting up a T with valves so that I can easily switch from one bottle to the other without disconnecting any lines.

    No. There should have been a period between Aluminum and Mig. Aluminum requires oxygen free shielding gas.

    Not to mention argon is way more expensive. I'd probably just go pure co2 if I had my own welder. Save the argon for the tig.

    No but remember the line will still have the other gas in it, you will need to "purge" the system of the other gas before actually welding.

    So lets say I was looking into welding and I've never done it before, where would I start? I take it the saying "you gdt what you pay for" applies here for machines and wire? I'm just looking for something to do projects on the side. Any advice?

    what would be something good power range for a learner who is just wanting to start. Doing tasks like fixing exhaust leaks, welding shackles to a truck frame etc?
