How long are the attachment legs? I wonder if the sliders I built for that Chevy are longer.

 

The Chevy ones were very long. These will be about 12-13” long

 

Yeah the Chevy ones were about 15”. There was still some flex on them so you may consider plating the legs like I did. You know what you’re doing but just offering some advice.

Thanks man! I appreciate it. I was thinking of doing a piece of 1” or 2” 1/8” thick flat bar on its side and making the gusset run about 3/4” of the leg as a long gusset/spine

 

I used 3”x4”x1/4”

 

4”x4”x3/16”

 

That long it looks more like you’re building ladders rather than sliders

hahaha when I looked at them on the ground, ladder was one of the first things that popped in my head lol

Here’s what I did. I split a length of 1/8” 2x2 square (to make two lengths of 1/8” angle iron) and capped each leg essentially making them 1/4” thick on two sides (top and one side). Granted I could’ve just bought 2” angle iron but I just used what I had on hand because I’m a glutton for punishment. Then I ran the 3/16” gusset about halfway down the leg.

 

I dig it man! Good idea

 

I wish I was working every day since most of my Customers have my phone number I am talking some through trouble shooting all to often.

 

Sometimes it is just easier to use what is within reach.

In my case ordering something for the next delivery the job gets pushed aside ( my projects) months or years later I come across all the parts.

 

You are very fortunate to be in a field where you can still work.

I am working from home and knocking this out a few hours at a time at night.

 

Im surprised you didn’t add another leg for that length?

 

Welded together a new crossbrace for my rear leaf hangers. I already had an old one I built but wanted to make improvements.
