Only if the welds look good. :p I am in the middle of one project that will require welding soon. I got this rack for a screaming deal on craigslist. It's an all pro rack that someone had a custom canvas cover made for it. Problem is it was made for a second gen so the rail matches the second gen rail that has a curve to it, and it is just a hair too narrow. I am cutting the base off, refinishing the rack, and welding it onto a base I will make for my first gen:

Now that it's cut and primed, I can make the base that goes on the frame rails, slap this rack on the base, and weld it all together. Eventually I'll get an upholstery shop make a back door too.

Bet you could adapt that so that the flange is perfectly two-holed with the tee...

anyone have any paper templates for tabs, shock mounts etc then can scan and email to be printed out or would be interested in starting a group/forum to share these kinds of things? I can make everything myself but the time it takes to make templates to cut out a single tab or shock mount defeats the purpose and i always end up ordering them for a couple bucks. Would be way easier to have a template i can print out, trace onto a piece of metal, cut and bend and weld in place.

I usually just measure them and draw them/cut out, Trace to metal etc... but I do like the idea of just printing them out in the dimensions you want. That would definitely save a lot of time

Going to weld these spicy bois on tomorrow, made by Mobtown offroad. Was wondering, I have a 110 mig and a 220 stick welder to choose from, what do you recommend? At first glance, I’m leaning toward 220. I’m pretty new to welding, only made a few things before and that was long ago

@pdaddy Are you using flux core, or solid wire with CO2 or Argon CO2 mix? You say your inexperienced; then I would say that it would be hard to NOT burn holes. With Flux core or solid (with gas) use 0.030 wire. Get some scrap of the same thickness and practice, practice, practice.....

Post pictures here for critique and suggestions.

I would say what ever process you are most comfortable with.

Out of position under a Truck would not be the best place to freshen your skills

FWIW and I am just speaking from my limited experience with stick, it it can get really hot really fast. I can imagine blowing through will be very easy.

I'd agree with the others are saying.

The mig should work just fine.

I'm forgetting where you're at, but if you need some scrap I've got a few bins full, free for the taking.

Oh ok, what I’ve been doing is when the angle is on a 45, it’s 2 holed. I still double check it though.

Appreciate all the advice but I vastly overestimated my welding skills. I struggled when I practiced on 2 lawnmower blades lol I’m gonna get these installed by someone else, anybody know any good shops in AL? I’m heading to SOS concepts next month so I may just get them to do it for $250
