I do metal work maybe twice a year these days. If I did it more then I’d totally be down to buy a couple more grinders and other handy tools. These days I probably open my tool box once a month and most of the time it’s to hang up something on the wall for my wife.

I have the same saw for the exact same reason, not alot of free space in my tiny 1 car garage and it fits on the bottom of my welding cart. I also bought the orange one because it was cheaper and swapped out the multipurpose blade for the blue steel one. I checked when I ordered - they have the same RPMS and everything. Only difference appears to be the color of the knob on the clamp and blade it comes with. Go slow when cutting and it does a pretty good job. I did smoke one blade trying to cut plate too fast but I blame that more on operator error than the saw.

That's good to hear a firsthand review, thanks. I watched some videos of it and it seems like a quality saw for the size and price. Mine gets here next Tuesday so I'll be sure to report back.

sweet! I have an evolution Rage 2 and it has been pretty awesome. Works very well with wood and steel. Cut through 1.5” solid round stock like it was nothing.

i have a Wilton horizontal band saw already. Just wanted to try out the little cold saw for quick 45 degree cuts so I wouldn’t have to adjust the band saw every time. My saw has a hard time finding true center when cutting so I like to leave it there for the most part, ha

When we buy a house next year and I get a bigger garage that’s on my short list. I’d love to have a small horizontal band saw

Makes sense. We’re all coming at this stuff from different directions. I bought this as a step up from a cheap 6” abrasive chop saw.

yeah, it ain’t tiny. Had enough space on a shelf for it to stay when not on the bench top.

Yeah exactly. I’ve got an abrasive chop saw as well from yearsssss ago. But the blade deflection is pretty bad on it

Franklin's bbq book has plans and a walkthrough of his ideal backyard smoker build ... on my list for 2021. The attached pic is not mine --- it's what I'm gearing up to build. If you enjoy a good brisket I highly recommend his book --- and a visit to his place for some of the best you'll find anywhere.

I have Aaron's book, it was given to me three or four years ago I think. I felt it was okay, but not a must-read. Seemed more about his journey than about smoking. Been a while so maybe I'm misremembering it.

As for smoker designs - I'm thinking I might one day do a gravity fed cabinet style than offset / stick burner.

LOL. Already have two kamados and a pellet grill, plus a freezer full of smoked pork & beef. :D

I don't need another smoker, but that's not necessarily relevant is it...
