Hey guys, I'm hoping someone here can help me figure this out. When I first installed the Anytime Backup Camera harness (and the upgraded front camera) on my 2020 TRD OR, it would only display the front camera (when the switch was selected to the front) and give me a blank screen when I selected the rear camera or shifted into reverse (stock rear camera).

I emailed the company, and they asked what happens when I switched the RCA jacks. It then made it so the reverse camera would display, but not the front one. I emailed that answer back and haven't been able to get any more answers (or even acknowledgement that I emailed).

So I did some troubleshooting on my own. I'd heard some folks talk about hearing the relay click, so I thought maybe I got a bad relay. Ordered new ones (and waited 2 weeks for them to come in...), but no change. I thought maybe it was a bad ground, so I extended the ground from the switch and grounded it with the relay harness on the radio mount. I'm assuming that's a good spot, as the instructions show grounding it there.

edit to add: After moving the grounds together, now the front camera is the only one that works. Even when I swap the RCA plugs, the back camera no longer works!

I looked over the connectors, and don't see or feel a loose or bent pin. I soldered and shrink-wrapped the connections, so I'm assuming they're good. I'll attach some pics below.

Thanks for any ideas you've got!

    Sorry to hear, that sucks.

Was yours made to use the steering wheel controls, or a dash button?

Added a button to the dash area under the radio (by the BSM, charger, USB, etc.). Switch lights up properly and seems to work. I get the front camera when I select front and get a black screen when I select rear or shift into reverse. So I'm assuming it's not a problem with the switch, but something in the harness not letting the rear camera feed get through. I'm just not smart enough on how/where to troubleshoot that.

Make sure the module is even compatible with your headunit. There’s entune 1.0, 2.0, and 3.0 headunits

The cameras are always ON after IGN. The Parking Assist ECU receives the input to send rear, front or panoramic feed to the Head Unit.

Since there's a switch select for the front view only:

My guess is the added harness has an issue. Or maybe this does not pertain to your OR.

That's what I'm thinking, as it seems the camera feed is OK. It'll be a pain to rip it all out, especially since I soldered the connections between the switch and harness, but I guess that's just what it is.

Now if I could just get a response from Anytime Backup Camera...

I would say check out the harness to be sure nothing is de pinned. I had this issue with installing mine somehow in doing the final set up and hiding all the wires I ripped up a harness in the kit. I got a new one but due to family issues and other bothers not helping With Those for the last several months i haven't had time to get back in to complete it.

I didn't see anything wrong or loose, but I'll take another look. Was it obvious? Was one of the wires completely loose, or was it just not fully seated?

    Thanks!

It gets worse. I haven’t had time to mess with it again, but now it doesn’t work at all. When I flip the switch (either way) or shift to reverse, nothing happens. What a pain…

Still nothing from the maker. I’ve disconnected it so at least I have the rear camera back. Now I’ve got a bunch of wires behind the radio, an extra switch in the console, and a front camera that are useless dead weight and a waste of money.

    Incredibly dissatisfied and disappointed!

I had an issue with this about a year ago. It turned out I had the wrong 24(?) pin connector from the back of the head unit. I had watched a bunch of videos related to the install but they were for previous model years. I found a pic on the anytime sight that showed the correct harness connection. Let me see if I can find it again.

I had tremendous trouble with connecting all the little wires together. Especially the orange one off the front camera and to ground wire with it. I had to use these heat shrink tubing things with solder in them to get good connection with all the wires you have to splice. I tried in my first attempt to use crimp connectors to splice the wires together but the small thin ones on the camera wire(orange and black) kept pulling apart on me. My first attempt was a total fail other than getting the camera in the grille and the wire through the fire wall.

I did eventually get mine installed and working but it was the hardest, most frustrating mod I think I've done so far.
Best advice is watch some videos on it. Particularly good one is the one @ClassyTacos did. Get your instructions and do as much of the splicing and stuff on a table or work bench as you can before taking it to the truck like he did. His truck is an older model, 2017 or 18 so a few minor details are different but those are in the written instructions. One difference is the blue wire for illumination we use on 2020+. Take your time with it all. Those were the keys to my success with it.

Update: after sending a polite, but terse, email expressing my frustration at the lack of communication, the maker sent me his phone number. We discussed the problem, and that the most likely problem was a faulty harness. He sent me a replacement (free, under warranty) and everything works great now!

i think maybe he’s just overwhelmed with work; not only did I have issues getting him to answer emails, but it took numerous calls to get through to him - and his voicemail box is full, so I couldn’t leave a message.

I had a similar experience with getting ahold of him but same outcome, though I actually broke one of the harness and was willing to pay for the part. He sent it for free. Good guy but yeah could over worked either way he did more than I expected once I got in contact.

I have the standard front camera this is how mine looks. I could've cut the wire to remove the lines but didn't 20220811_133459.jpg

I have an issue with mine causing a draw on the battery when the truck is shut off. Reached out and haven’t heard any response back.. I verified I have a good ground and power. I have the power wire going to a blue seas fuse box that run through a circuit breaker. If i remove power from camera the battery draw goes away..
