I posted this in the "what have you done" thread but figured this might save someone the headaches I had installing it with a bull bar bumper, light bar behind the grill & cutout the potential mounting locations, a cam that needed the threads extended (and were some oddball size....the nut they sent didn't thread on and nothing at the local Ace worked!).
    -----

Lately I’ve had a super bad habit of buying mods and sitting on them for waaaay too long, years at times.

Some, especially ones with wiring got sidelined trying to figure out where and how I wanted things mounted doing it clean and once….like my voswitch, mrcb, BSS fuse box and and which wire type and routing.

After two years sitting in limbo finally got the r4t anytime backup/front cam done, this is a really helpful mod (trails, parking or lane changes with my back window obstructed by my dirt bike).

The bull bar on my bumper made it a pita to figure where and how I was going to mount the cam. Also I had cut out the small grill inserts that were blocking the behind the grill light bar, so that also made it more of a pita.

I ended up bending a T bracket and drilling it to accept the cam…..the cam threads had some bizarre size and the supplied nut didn’t go on at all.........AND I had to extend the cam threads to reach my bracket.

Oddly I was able to tap threads (m8x1.25) in a light fixture nipple that was enough to thread onto the cam threads, used some locktite and shrink tubing to make it look better and the fixture nuts with lock washers and some locktite to secure it all.

It came out ok….if you buy the kit make sure the parts fit and the harness is good before installing, on mine it was slightly melted (tough to see).

I had installed the whole kit (the cam just dangling because I wasn't sure how to mount it yet) when I hit the switch to the forward cam it went all black......the rear button worked great and when the switch was in the normal operation position it worked fine when in reverse.

I looked at the vid break out harness and it looked like there was a melted area and measuring with my Fluke the from cam feed was shorted. At first r4t wanted me to contact the abc guy (zero response) but I had bought from r4t and they finally said to send it all back to them.

It was kind of a pita to pul it all out again, and many of the connections could have been pre-made and shorter wires….unless other vehicles had a different set up.
They sent a new kit with the HD cam that is kind of funky looking but aim-able until someone messes with it or car wash bumps it........annnnnd the threads on it were some oddball 1.25 pitch that the nut didn't fit!

In the and it works and it's pretty damn helpful, hopefully you'll have better luck bit I do recommend this mod!

***Added a pic of the bent Tee bracket with the lightbar pushed out of the way.

Again I’m glad that R4T worked with me on this since I sat on it for a while but at first they wanted me to deal with the guy who makes the kit; he never responded.

So in the end I’m glad they did the right thing.

When I mentioned the replacement cam threads not working I basically got a bot-like response not acknowledging it.
luckily I was able to make it work.

I installed this per the ABC instructions & R4T video, the front cam works but the
rear cam will not work at all unless I remove the ABC video harness.

The male video connector is reading a short between the canter pin and outer shield...I'm sure thats the problem. Just wanted to exchange the video harness, now sending this all back I will need new butt splice connectors.

    Comments:
•Switch in front & any gear-the front cam works as it is designed.

    •Switch in middle & reverse-screen goes black.

•Switch in rear & any gear-screen goes black.

The male rca lead has a short and it preventing the rear video signal to pass; just

need to replace this video harness.

The male rca connector had a dead short.

Seemed to me many of these connections could have been hardwired.
