Anyway to make the 4cyl 2.7L faster?

I have a 2019 sr tss and it is painfully slow. I’ve only ever gotten it up to 90 and it was pushing with everything it had to get up there. Is there anything I can do to give more torque and better timings? Like is there any tunes out there for a 4cyl tacoma?

Regear rear gears, turbo or supercharge it, engine swap to large displacement engine, or trade it in. Or, last option, live with it.

Long answer, not cost efficiently, you need forced induction.

Only up to 90? How fast do you need to go? Running from the law or something?
I’ve had my 2.7L at 80 with plenty of pedal left, have no doubt it could break 100 on a flat road.
No Tacoma makes a good getaway car, I have other cars for that.

Buy this house. 50% of the time, your truck will feel almost too fast.

 

Maybe strong headwind was the problem. I can really feel it on the mountain passes, and I have a v6 with a performance tune.

 

The 4 cylinder Tacomas are designed as workhorse trucks that plod along, with better economy, less maintenance, and great longevity at the cost of power. The v6 tacos are not much better as Toyota governs/strangles the v6 to increase reliability as well.

I think you have to accept your fate and be at peace with it, or trade for something else.

It's a 4-banger in a somewhat heavy rig. And you're complaining you can only get it up to 90mph? WTF, really?

 

Buy a 2.7 ecoboost truck, simple

Don't touch it. The mod cost to value ratio of the car is simply not worth it.

This comes from a guy who has spent over $8-10K in go fast alone only to be making 320+ to the wheels on his V6 Taco.

Sure, it's fun and it's a totally different feel from what OE is, but there are other options out there that makes power out of mods WAY easier for a much lower dollar amount, these trucks just do not fall under that category unfortunately.

If you HAVE to have some power and want to spend a little bit, then my suggestion is a regear. That is the best way to make cheap pony power and get some off the line giddy up out of the 4 bangers.
