Your mods have slowed your truck down. An unmodified 3rd gen 4 cyl pushes past 100 mph: https://youtu.be/y-HJeZElHTo

Like he said. Painfully slow. There's no way around a 160 hp pushing a brick through the air is going to be slow at higher speeds.

You gents should know better to take your Tacomas to the race track. OP said he couldn’t get over 90, no one claimed you could get to 100 fast .. just that it could get there lol.

only a 2.7 owner calls 65mph on the highway a "racetrack".

Funny enough I actually offered to meet any stock 2nd Gen at the track. See how great the 4.0 really is that they love to go on about. Nobody took me up... Even said Id buy the first round when done racing.

Just havin fun, but I understand that 2.7 owners consider 55 in a 45 a wild ride.

I bet. Wife’s car is a 2020 Accord EX-L 2.0 Turbo 10 speed, when I switch to it from my truck I do feel like I’m driving a race car lol.

Mr. Gibbs: Alright. Let’s take a look at another example. Say Amy is out for a leisurely drive in her VW bug and along comes Eddie in his Ferrari.
    Students: (laughing)
Student 1: Hey, come on, that could happen. Totally.
Mr. Gibbs: So you’re doing 20 and Eddie’s doing 220. What does he look like when he goes by?
    Student 2: I don’t know. Just a blur, I guess.
Mr. Gibbs: Exactly. And if he was going fast enough, you wouldn’t see him at all. From Eddie’s point of view, you would look as if you were standing still. And that is a basic example of Einstein’s theory of what, Eddie?
    Eddie: Highway safety.
    Mr. Gibbs: Relativity.
    Eddie: Relativity.

    OP,

You want to go fast, then gut your truck out and put in the performance items in it...

Or trade it in for a fast car...

Or live with it and move on.

Your discussion with other posters about 200MPH, that reminded me of a discussion in a movie a long time ago.

2.7 4cyl. does a marvelous job of propelling the Tacoma and it's contents anywhere one wants to go in a reliable and efficient manner. The wingnut behind the wheel is the only problem.
