Because your saying you have a JBL unit in your truck. If you have non JBL then you need a non JBL unit to make it work

Interested as well. Non-jbl with Nav 2018 here. Though I must admit I do like all the soft buttons on the 2018.

Not sure if I know what you are looking for, but I have a 2021 with Android Auto. In stead of the wired method to run Anroid Auto, I purchased a Motorola MA1 wireless Android Auto and it works pretty good. Not perfect but connected works very well with most apps.

    Hope this helps

I put in the NAVIKS unit into my 2018 (non JBL). Absolutely love it for the cost and retaining factory features and look.
Plays Apple CarPlay, can also do android auto. Can use Waze, maps (Apple/ google) play apps like Spotify, Pandora, etc. And all wireless!
I hold down the end call button on the steering wheel controls while the factory stereo is in Aux and up pops CarPlay. I can also go back to the factory options while still running music and check for factory apps like gas stations, maintenance ect.
Overall very happy for the function. Screen quality could be a little better, it’s a little grainy but not a deal breaker.

Johnb81, thank you for letting me know. I bought my truck 5-6 months ago. That was one of the first things I looked at for it. I'm always on tacoma world every night. So, when I came across this and seen people talk about it since I seen it was a thing, I was really curious to ask people who use it if they really like it. That was my thought is you retain the factory look. And knowing me, if I got a unit for my truck, I would want a top of the line alpine. I used to be a audio fanatic. I used to run a Rockford fosgate 450 on 2 jl audio 6x9s and a cheap 12in pioneer sub, all I used was alpine. I had Kenwoods and in 2 years they were junk. By far alpine is the best. But they are huge money. So, I'm really curious now to try it since I'm plenty happy with my jbl system in my Limited. Plus, it will keep the factory look and allow me to use the screen. Thanks

I haven’t checked out the Naviks website but hope it works out for your model year.
It’s nice to retain the factory options and setting adjustments and still get some modern features.
If money was no limitation, I would likely go with the Stinger 10” unit but the Naviks module works great for me.
I wouldn’t call myself an audiophile but I am appreciating my set up with Hertz Pro speakers, KENWOOD Tweeters, and recently added powered subwoofer.

Johnb81, hot setup their. I've heard good things about hertz. I've gotten out of that stuff, I don't mess with it no more. I only did the old vehicles with no wheel controls since those were so easy. I looked into naviks for my model year and it's avaliable. I was curious of those who ran it to hear how people like it. It would be so nice to have it and retain everything. Thank you. You answered my question.
