Anywhere I can obtain these for cheaper?

also, you CAN just use the lenses from the 01-04 on the 95-00 housings, therefore no wiring issues

 

There is a small wiring change between 1995-2000 and 2001-2004. The later utilizes Pin 6, while in earlier models there is no Pin 6 (slot is empty)
Also in early models both lamps left and right have the same pin usage, while newer models use Pin 6 differently for let and right lamp.

Here is the pin-out:


In both lamps the following pins are used:
1 - Turn signal bulb (Left and Right)
2 - Tail light - low wattage (5W) of 1157 bulb (Left and Right)
3 - Ground (Left and Right)
4 - Stop light - high wattage (21W) of 1157 bulb (Left and Right)
5 - Back-up light (Left and Right)
6 - (Models 1995-2000 Left and Right) - Not used
(Models 2001-2004 Left) - Tail light - low wattage (5W) of 1157 bulb
(Models 2001-2004 Right) - Ground

So lamp from 2001-2004 can be connected to 1995-2000 truck with no wiring change (it is backward compatible). The difference is in wire loom in these trucks where 1995-2000 models have all splicing (for Right lamp, Ground and Registration plate lighting) inside the loom, and 2001-2004 have these splicing at the connectors R6 and R7.

 

So basically I’ll be fine if I just install these on my 97?

 

If your truck is not modified in there and these aftermarket lamps are not wired by some drunk, you should be fine. You can always check the new lamps with ohm meter. But my bet is you are 99.99% fine.

 

Yeah they have good reviews and it’s ebay so it’s probbaly the same item they get off of Ali express or something but they’re the people selling it for the cheapest so

 

Mine came of ebay - plug and play until I started modifying it

 

Ya I’m just saying that’s how they make profit they buy and resell

 

Hmmm, I got these, but as with some aftermarket parts, they have a warp on the top so if I were to use them water would get inside, ugh
