Anyone know of anywhere I can go and practice using my recovery gear without blocking up all the trails near the valley? I'm incorporating a winch into my recovery gear and would like to practice and learn to make proper use of it in the event that I may need it.

Also, any instructors or classes you might recommend are welcomed too. I don't have anyone that wheels that can pass this knowledge onto me, so I'm pretty limited to just becoming youtube certified at the moment. I appreciate any feedback!

Can't help you with your question. However, if you want to continue your Youtube doctorate this guys channel has a lot of informative good info on it put together in an interesting way. Including winching techniques and safety.

Greatly appreciated. Honestly a lot of good stuff here. Just going through this is making me want a Hilux now =(. Thanks for the recommendation.

I took classes here in Virginia from OverlandExperts years ago and it was a great class on stuff like using snatch straps, winches, hi lift, traction boards, etc.. They put us in a bunch of scenarios and showed us how to properly angle, weigh down the line, and use blocks. If you ever get out to Quantico, let me know and I can run through a lot with you.

Ronnie Dahl has some great content. Check Facebook or google to see if there is a local 4x4 club in your area as well. They sometimes put on clinics.

Man, you're good people. I appreciate the feed back and offer! I moved from VA about 2.5 years ago! If I ever find myself out there I'll be hitting you up. I'm going to check this clinic out and see if they have other leads too. Thank you.

I just started checking fb and found a couple of groups, but they're all jeep groups so I'm currently trying to weasel my way into some of their exclusive classes. Thanks for the recommendations. Also started binge watching Dahl after HighCountry recommended it and it's a lot more informative and more real-world situated than others videos I've been watching. Thank you!

yo welcome to AZ I am up in the hills in Show Low. Most of the land is NF and open with lots of off shoots you can go find and just practice. Feel free to PM and I can recommend some spots. As for learning if you find your self up here and want to explore and do some running thru of recovery I am always down to go and hit some dirt. I use my winch all the time. Actually just towed people out sunday with it.

Call Nina Barlow. She use to put on recovery clinics which included recovering a rolled vehicle. Great lady and a very knowledgeable resource.

My friend just did a recovery class down here in Cochise County a few weeks ago. I can let you know if he does another one again, but I'm assuming that's probably a bit of a drive for you.

Also, rah, yut, and other motivation noises from a former Comm Marine.

Rio Verde forest road 2117 and the surrounding area have some perfect spots for low and high angle recovery.

I just installed a winch, bought some soft shackles, snatch ring, tree straps, and some other odds and ends, but would love to learn how to properly use it. If anyone in the SoCal area knows of a class or clinic I would be down. I think I need a kinetic strap and snatch block in addition, and something to place over the winch line. Appreciate the resources listed before. Thanks
