I am looking at the Spyder headlights for my 2010 toyota tacoma but they look the same as the Anzo. I heard the Anzo light output was weak and was concerned if that would be the same issue as with the Spyder?

I picked up some new Spyders on here from a member. I love the way they look! Light out put is great. But the other day I degreased my engine and sprayed it and got fogging in one of the lights. It went away but I was a little bummed about that. Living in S CA moisture isn't as much an issue but we will see how the next few months go since we are going into our rainy season.

Both typically have poor output and fogging issues. Some members have have limited success with sealing them up with silicone before installing.

That is a disappointing thing to hear. I am trying to get some good looking headlights but not some expensive custom headlights.

Build some yourself, I just finished up a new set myself. It's not that difficult and Theretrofitsoure.com has a killer deal going on through Monday. The output on real projectors is well worth it IMO. Here's a couple crappy cell pics. I added halos and "goblin eyes" (the eyes are not wired yet, waiting on a switch). But here is a test shot before assembly.

Are you good with electrical? What set up are you running on your lights and if you don't mind me asking, how much did it cost you?

Anzo is an OEM replacement while spyder is a OEM imitator. I've heard of a lot of spyders leaking and collecting moisture, on top of poor light output, not so much with anzo. I bought spyders, hate em, so I'm switching to anzos. but that's my opinion.

I have heard that there are issues with both so at this point I am just not sure.

Also, the only brand that comes close to OEM is Depo. I worked for Koito (North American Lighting) who makes ALL of the Tacomas lighting. My plant only made reward lighting for the Tacoma, but others made the forward. The Depos are as close as I've seen in quality. Do yourself a favor, and avoid those "off brands".

I just saw your replies t4daddy so I apologize for the late response. And thank you very much for your replies I appreciate it. I think I may just save up and pay someone to make me a pair of retros.

I just bought these after weeks and weeks of research because I have what I'm assuming is oxidation on the outside of the OEM headlights that were on my truck when I bought it new back in 07. Both headlights are getting a little cloudy on the outside and I figured it was a good time to do some upgrading.

    http://www.amazon.com/121191-Toyota-Reflectors-Headlight-Assembly/dp/B0038AXDEY/ref=pd_sim_sbs_auto_1?ie=UTF8&refRID=0W8AXP6SQN1F3FRARD82

Didn't want to spend more than $200 and am not a big fan of the halo/projector style. I also did not want to try the BHLM because I wasn't sure the best way to reseal after prying the lense off.

So to make a long story longer and to get to the point of why I'm posting this, I decided to go with the aftermarkets to save time and effort knowing that many have had issues with condensation.

Before installing these Anzo's I used about 3/4 of a tube of RTV Clear Silicon adhesive sealant. One bead of seal on each headlight. Let sit for 24 hours and then applied an extra thinner bead in case the first bead missed any spots. Gave it another 48 hours and then installed the headlights.

Ran the truck through the car wash because I wanted to see if the weatherstripping I spent the last couple weeks applying to my tonneau cover had done the trick.

Was disappointed to pull in the garage and check the bed as well as the headlights only to find that not only did the bed continue to have water in it, each of the Anzo's had condensation forming in the lower corners closest to the grille.

I'll give it a couple days to see if it corrects itself but I'm honestly not hopeful. At this point, I'm thinking I might try to pick a used oem pair from ebay like so many others have done and do the bhlm instead of relying on poor craftsmanship and quality of aftermarket lights.

    Just my two cents

Ha, I did almost the same thing. I had forgotten about this thread, and just happened across it again. You ask in a above post about electrical, I'm no expert by any means, but most of all this is plug and play. The harness I used plugs in to your headlight lead, then into the input side of your ballast, then from output side of ballast into your bulbs. Then there is a tiny connector that plugs into your projector to activate your high beam cut offs. Depo lights can be bought from Amazon for just over $50.00 or so. Make sure they are the same model left vs right, because there are some different model Depo offers. Id help you any way I could if you decide to tackle it. Doing them yourself will make you the proudest of them IMO.

Could you perhaps give me a link of where the lights would be I can not seem to find them? THanks
