Apogee 3rd Gen Tacoma Rear Bumper Dual Swing Thread

I’ll get you some angles tomorrow. Definitely past 90°. They will lock when they’re open. Only one position (fully out).

 

Since we’re getting in the weeds here... drop down tables on one or both sides? If so, thoughts on how they work with the tailgate down?

 

I'm really looking forward to these dual swing outs.
Curious to see how the design fares with the BSM sensor issues that other designers had problems with. Have you guys seen consistent success with no/minimal errors with the BSM system?
Sounds EXTREMELY frustrating & challenging to have the BSM working consistently in an aftermarket bumper. It would be massive if you got it working properly - that's the biggest thing holding me back from selecting a bumper; I want to retain my BSM and backup sensor functionality.

So far the current standard clearance bumper hasn't had any issues as far as BSM functionality. Works exactly as OEM for the year or so we've tested it. The only issue we faced was having to re-calibrate the sensors on a customer's rig, which only took about 5-7 miles of driving in traffic to fix. The cause was disconnecting the battery before the install. After that we kept the battery plugged in on every install since, and haven't had any complaints! We can't fathom why other manufacturers stopped working on the issue, but we're glad they did! We're definitely excited for the new renditions.

In like flynn...this looks great. If anything, I may go with your normal bumper without the swingouts. Keeping BSM is huge.

 

Much much easier than cutting those bedsides up! Haha

Have you been able to get angles? Also do you have any updated pictures of the bumper installed how it looks opened?

 

It opens 130 degrees. We still haven't assembled the swing outs yet. There were some discrepancies with the laser cutting. We will keep you as updated as we can!

 

one thing i guess i didnt catch before... is the current design a wrap-around from wheel well to wheel well? i assume that would require cutting the rear fenders like most other high clearance designs out there

the original design, still on the first page of the thread, looks more like a direct replacement that doesn't require any cutting. was there a design change, or will there be an option for both?

 

There will be a high clearance wraparound and an option for the standard clearance as well.

I only posted the new renders because everyone was curious about the high clearance bumper.
