Definitely going to be in the works. We want to get the rest of our Tacoma product line out first.

I can see the high clearance looking a little better visually since they'll be able to bring the corners in a bit more flush to the bedsides and taper out for the bsm. At least that's how I'm imagining they'd do it

Hey Edward, yes the bumper requires the factory hitch to be removed. In our testing our hitch has proved to be more than adequate for the rated Tacoma towing capacity. Let me know if you have any more questions!

@Apogee Offroad Where would one find a discount code for your site, or information about any promotions you may have going or coming up? I'd love to spend a bunch of $ with you all, but looking for a deal on shipping or something to help get motivated. Thanks!

Hey guys, feel free to hit up our email for some combo deals! We can definitely hook you up. Our next batch will be done by mid next week so act quick if you want to secure one! As for your question with the spare Edward, there is quite a gap with the stock spare under there, but we haven't tested a 33" for clearance. We will be offering a tire carrier option so be on the lookout for that.

@Apogee Offroad Based off of the video on your site it looks like you can install the license plate to flip up or down, is that correct?
    https://www.apogeeoffroad.com/shop/toyota-tacoma-rear-bumper-gen3
Also, think a 265/75r16 spare will fit under without any issues? Only a bit bigger than stock
I'm really interested in seeing a possible HC version that fully wraps around

Have any buyers noticed any alignment issues thus far with the BSM?

Largely stock at the moment. ARE Overlander bed cap. Much more to come as budget and workshop access permit.
Apogee, thank you guys for developing a BSM compatible bumper. I have been spending the last month since I bought my Tacoma searching the web, and writing companies trying to find a bumper that would work. I had reached a point where I was starting to work on designing my own with plans of hacking parts out of the factory bumper and attempting to remount them on a triangulated mount, which I REALLY do not want to do as I want to keep as many parts modifications bolt on as possible.

I see on your site that you are developing a spare tire carrier? any info on what is in the works? short single arm carrier??? full width single arm carrier??? double arm carrier???

Since I have plans for an articulated off road chuck wagon trailer, I am hoping for a dual arm spare tire carrier so I can mount my tire on the passenger side and my fuel cans on the driver side. You have vertical flat sections under the tail lights just inboard of the BSM mounting ports... is that area strong enough to support hinges for a carrier?

I am disappointed to hear about the hidden hitch. I know most people want the extra clearance, but I have had friends ticketed for "obscuring their license plate" using a hidden hitch with a bike rack. My last truck I just used an RV roller under my hitch to reduce instances of dragging my tail...

@MattLew i'm sure someone could fab up a license plate bracket to mount onto one of the rear recovery hooks while you have a trailer hooked up.

Hi Cesar, sorry for the late reply. First off, the license plate bracket flips down. I think a 265/75 should fit just fine, I can test mount one of our 33" KO2s for reference.

High clearance is in the works as well as a dual swing out. As of now, none of our customers have had any issues with their BSM mounts.

Hope this clears some things up! Thanks.

    Hi Matt,

Thanks for checking in. Its awesome to see that we are pioneers in the BSM game. As far as the tire carrier, we are working on a dual swing out with potential for a single as well. Our issue is trying to incorporate the BSM brackets into the carrier as well. We initially wanted to design a modular bumper than can have a variety of options bolted to it, but in order to bolt the carrier on, the BSM brackets would have to be removed. Now were looking into having the BSM brackets incorporated into the carrier as well.

Part of our design element is structural analysis of all parts we create. So far its been tricky to calculate the most weight that a dual swing out poses. We have no idea what our customers will weigh them down with, but were working on it.

    Hope this helps,

Great work. You definitely have set a high bar for others to emulate. I was resigned to keeping my rear bumper stock to preserve the BSM functionality. Now that excuse is gone. Congratulations Apogee Engineering Off-road (AEO). Maybe Toyota will follow your lead in the future.
