2020 Tacoma SR5 4WD

I have plugged in a Fat32 USB stick, and with music In source, USB is greyed out. I read in the manual that when an Apple Car Play/android Auto connection is installed this function will be unavailable. is this connection the default, and can I disable it so I can play music from a USB stick?
