Hey guys I’m wondering if anyone has had this problem, the usb for Apple CarPlay says it can’t recognize my phone, it worked for about 8 months and just stopped. It will not charge my phone or hook up to Apple car play. The connector has power it’s not a fuse, I don’t know where else to look. Thanks

Long shot, but have you tried replacing the usb cable? Is it an authentic apple cable? I would also make sure that your iOS is up to date and there aren't any updates available for the head unit.

Go to settings on your phone. Press Touch ID & Passcode, scroll down to USB Accessories and make sure it is turned on (green). This worked for me.

I am having similar issues. The only difference was my usb still charged my phone. My CarPlay worked fine until it randomly stopped working about a month and a half ago. I’ve updated my phone, head Unit, reset all settings. Tried multiple cables (Even bought new Apple cable). Forgot my car on my phone and now it won’t recognize my truck. I plugged my phone into a friends car and my phone recognized right away. Spoke to Sr Tech at Apple and still nothing. Spoke to the dealership and Sales assoc couldn’t figure it out. Finally dropped it off for warranty claim and now the dealership is replacing the head Unit.

Try taking it back to the dealership to see if they can figure it out or see if they’ll replace it.

That’s the standard UK spelling, so maybe you got a unit meant for Canada?

It is actually not spelled wrong. Recognise is the British spelling of the word. Could be that since Toyota is world wide they opt to use that spelling

Recognise isn't spelled wrong...it's the Queen's English before it was bastardized.

If multiple phones are having the same issue then it's gotta be something with the head unit. Can't believe they're just replacing the whole damn thing but good for you. Hopefully I don't have any issues outside of warranty because I am not paying $1500 for a new head unit.

Did you have a good outcome from this? My headunit just started doing the same thing today. Worked fine before this.

I received an update a few weeks ago and it created recognition issues. Leaving it plugged in for a minute or so, CarPlay finally pops up and works.

To see if yours is similar to my issue, plug the phone in and then goto to the head unit app screen. If you get an error message saying that the usb is in use, it’s due to the update. Just leave it plugged in, CarPlay will eventually pop up.

Thanks for the reply. I wish that would work for me. My phone was plugged in for around 35 mins. Apple CarPlay never popped up. In fact, it only charged my phone once. I tried restarting the phone and head unit multiple times.

it’s at the dealership now. We shall see what they say. I don’t have high expectations.
