Hello all first post here. Well tomorrow I have an appt for my 2009 tacoma for a frame inspection. I only have 2 months left from date of first use. My mechanic took a hammer and checked the frame and he couldn't find a 10mm hole but he did say the frame is separating and it's going to get bad in a few short years. So here are a few pics of the passenger side middle part of frame.

My question is if they say they won't replace it but instead CRC it will that give me an extended warranty if the my frame goes bad in a few years?

Also what should I say if they won't do anything? I need a little ammo in my back pocket. Appreciate any input. Thank you

edit: I'll let you guys know tomorrow. I measured the gap and its like 12mm across.

You can try multiple dealers if you aren’t satisfied with the first one. I also was nearing end of the extended warranty and tried a different dealer because first one said no hole was found. Second dealer said I qualified. I also had delaminating rails.

Did you look at the boxed section right beside the catalytic converters? Mine had a flaky area there. I tapped it gently with a hammer and punch and the metal flaked away and a 12mm hole appeared. Make sure you don't end up with a perfectly round hole that looks like you drove a punch through it.

I didn't see too much in that area Muddin. I'll try another if these guys don't replace. Thanks for the replies. Still waiting to hear what the Toyota dealer says.

Front and rear insides corners of the front cab mounts fails these pretty quicky. As well as said paper thin catalytic converter rust spots

Getting the CRC treatment will not extend your warranty.

thanks for all the replies. They're replacing the frame due to delamination / separation of frame.

What is the general consensus on de lamination? I have a 2009 that has it in excess of 10mm. It was in that condition when I purchased July 2019 and was inspected by a Toyota dealership during my purchase. My warranty expires in March 2021. I havent found any holes in the frame though.

I had similar questions with my frame. I got the sense that some dealers submitted delamination as a hole and got frame replacements approved. Other dealers feel compelled to say this doesn't qualify.

In my case, I didn't find any holes (but maybe there was one somewhere). I found a TacomaWorld member who told me about a dealer who replaced his frame which suffered delamination. I went to the same dealer (in NJ), and my frame replacement was approved.

Drill a small hole in the cab mount corner, and make it look haggard. Salt it for a week or two and go in for an inspection. Most dealers LOVE money so they will gladly submit it as a fail for the 20+ hours of pay
