Mud tires should be fine. I don't see why they wouldn't.

Mud tires are actually the best for this trail. Better than ATs.

@madsand @RogueTRD @ramonortiz55 @Manwithoutaplan I see y'all lurking here. Git yer butts on board! You know you wanna go!

@Jetblack3s Considering he's a Tundra, probably (if your Heep friends ask, tell them we don't want to have to keep rescuing them, so No). Gotta be 4wd. And he's going to have some tight spots through the narrows.

Trying to see if I can go
I know the area well but the south park run is one I have not done. My buddy has a 1st gen tundra and wont go on that trail but he said he would co-pilot. But I have another commitment that weekend, if plans fall through I will let you know.

My wife and I want in on this trip! We're waiting on her leave request on that day to clear. My setup is a 2016 TRD 4x4 Offroad, 5100's in the front set to 1.75 with stock coils, stock rear. I've been studying for my HAM license but freaking every single test date between now and the trip I cannot make, so I guess I'll be silent on the radio but I can listen to you guys. Other than that, I have the rest of the gear on the list. I'm new to wheeling, been around anza borrego and down diablo dropoff but apparently its graded and easy now so that doesnt mean much. Do you guys think my setup will make it?

I know for a fact that a mostly-stock 4x4 Taco can make it. When I rolled my truck, that's one of the two vehicles that met me, and we'll passing by that spot. Besides, if the weather has torn up the trail, we can always strap you for the worst of it (mostly just the turns).
Don't worry about the license for the trip. We'll be on simplex anyway, which I doubt the FCC is going to take issue with for three days of mobile. Now, if you plan on listening to repeaters, then you'll need to keep quiet. But truck-to-truck comm should be fine. If you have a CB, also bring that, as some guys have only one or the other (I have both, and have had to play mediator on occasion).

    Bump!

Surely there's more people itching to see the DV backcountry? Or give their 4x4 a real workout?

How about all the lurkers and maybes? Any of y'all going to commit? C'mon now! :)
