How’re you keeping the brown substrate from mixing into the white or has it even been a problem? They look similar in consistency. Maybe it’s only an issue with white sand, being fine grain.

Lol easy, I just keep extra sand around and touch it up when I need to.

It can get messy. I'll be adding a medium size natural gravel mix to transition it a bit better in the near future. Currently is has a bunch of extra plants in it as well as a holding box for a future tank.

The other tank is still coming along nice. I added 10 ember tetras to it today. Not the most current photo.

I'll do recent photos of both tomorrow

I have a 29 gallon my ex left behind when she moved out. It had two African Leafs, a Bala shark, an Angel, and a Pleco, and was decorated with glass beads and plastic plants. Three years later, the leafs are the only things left from the original setup. FDE3A5E1-11DD-40C3-98BF-35F194C77043.jpg
Current occupants include the two leafs, a Florida Pleco, a Bristlenose Pleco, and a Moor goldfish.

Some Discus pics. Living in the SF Bay Area, Discus are pretty common.

I got 8 of these female betas, 12 angels, 25 male guppies and 50 neons. I’m loving the live plants and have more on the way.

Wish I had the discipline to keep them. Everything I’ve read says they’re pretty difficult

Not really difficult but I've had a couple instances where a few would die at the same time and my pH and temp were fine. I've had the same thing happen with angelfish.

I learned today that plecos don’t go with angles. They will latch on to their sides and kill them. I’ve disposed of the plecos

I have heard that but in all my years of fish keeping have never seen it. plus, angels are pretty aggressive.

That’ll learn them dirty plecos where they can go suck it!

seriously tho, I call bad rap. I’d bet the angel was already dead, and the catfish was tryna help clean up the mess.

I watched him chase one down until he wore it out enough to latch on.

I can only give you my two cents. Your tank is new right? No algae growth? Are you feeding the pleco(s)? That's probably it.

I had my starter fish in for over a month before putting the others in. I had been feeding them as well.

might be a bit too small of a tank.
Not trying to troll, just help out.
Plecos are generally peaceful except in tight quarters- particularly against other plecos- so might get agro towards angels if too cramped.
Angles like to be in schools, in part so an aggressive fish doesn’t always focus on one victim.
Also with lots of space they should be able to outmaneuver a pleco.
Driftwood and/or plants should be added for cover. And it gives plecos essential and naturally appropriate places to suck/gnaw
    Good luck!
