I think most gun safes are very easily defeated if you are motivated.

I got my little cheap safe for a little better fire protection and to keep my shit from just sitting out in easier access.

I don’t get the point of your post. I said plasma. Obviously a grinder would work too eventually. The question is, when all my alarms are going off, will you be done before I or the popo get there. I willing to bet with all the grinding going on that you don’t even hear me come in and “self defend” myself.

This. When I bought my safe the guy from the safe company who installed it said 100% it can be beaten. First, he is a safe cracker (he said people forget how to open their safes all the time so that is a service they offer) and said many others have the skill. Second, he said all kinds of cutting tools can get in. He emphasized that the safe really works in conjunction with an alarm system: what you cannot do by a longshot is defeat the safe (by either means) in the response time of the cops.

I could also chisle through the side of your block house if I wanted to get in and steel your jewelery.

    Like shaw shank redemption.

Your alarm would never go off.

    45ACP sucks.

I have a motion sensor in the same room as my safe for that reason, you could cut my fiber or power and my Alarm monitoring company will call me within 5-10 minutes and ask if I’m aware of an outage in my area and if I want units dispatched.
I don’t enjoy paying for the monitoring but it’s worth it, especially since I was given the system and it’s a family friend that owns the monitoring company.

You gotta get a battery backup with a dedicated buried communication cable. Steel sheet behind the drywall and a steel door with welded frame and capped/welded hinges cause a headache also....

Not really. A system worth having will build in a ton of redundancies. That includes (overlapping) motion and sound detectors.

    Edit: And obviously safe placement.

Finally working on my SWAT inspired clobe for the wife. Gotta get a carry handle and swap out the stock. The light is the only thing that works on that damn handguard though.

Nice! Yours a pencil barrel colt? Mines a $200 cheapo PSA. Maybe i have asked on here before about the surefire grips but do your buttons work? I think someone recommended i contact surefire in order to get mine fixed. So far i love the setup. Cant wait to get it finished.
