So what are you guys thoughts on the AFG I have on the pistol? A member approached me concerned and with many valid points. My argument was that the foregrip is angled and not 90* in relation to the axis of the barrel. He relayed to me that irregardless of angle, if you can wrap your thumb/hand around the grip than it can be an issue.

I know, gray area and totally dependent on the how it is discerned based on the officer but I totally agree with what he said.

That being said.. I have modified the setup a little bit to be compliant and more capable with what I need it for in these parts of south texas... Added an atlas bipod and hand stop I had laying around... Previous picture will likely be dispersed soon :D

I’m no lawyer and I don’t own any AR pistols (SBR all the way!!) but from the discussions I’ve seen if it’s not 90* or near 90* it should (note, should) be legal.
If you’re concerned about it contact a local firearms attorney but for the love of God don’t ask the ATF.

I went with a BCM KeyMod on my 16". My 20" and 10.5" are both wearing KAC rails.

Just gonna leave this entry contribution here...also need to grab either a red dot or ACOG clone for the AR...any suggestions on one over the other, and on specific products?

Depends on intended purpose and budget. Home defense, hogs, hunting, just plinking targets? If red dot I'd look for a used Aimpoint pro, they usually sell for around $350.00 and are top tier quality. Cheaper red dots like the Vortex sparc or holosun also get good reviews, but honestly if you get one of those you'll probably end up upgrading to an aimpoint down the road anyway.

If you want something with a little more range like a 1-4 scope my personal favorite is the SWFA. The Vortex Viper PST 1-4 is also good. Both will run you $300-$400. If you want a acog style without the acog price tag there isn't much out there worth buying.

2 Years ago I got Trijicon Accupoint 1-4 for $725 (Buds guns) almost half the price of an ACOG. I love it..it is like an ACOG on 4X and a Red Dot on 1X. I just looked and they are over $1000 (MSRP $1300) now!

Really like the reticle on those. Being Trijicon I was surprised to see what they go for compared to the acogs, may try one at some point. Normally when people say they want an acog style scope they want that classic 4x with the chevron reticle, which there are knock offs of but mostly chinese junk with terrible eye relief. I just picked up an Eotech EXPS2 and G33 magnifier with unity mounts, should be fun to mess around with.

I was a little wary of trying the triangle post instead of crosshairs...I dont even notice the post.
The $1000 price was what I noticed on Optics planet recent. Budsguns still has them priced at $700, but most are out of stock (like everything else these days). If you email trijicon your serial #, they will verify its authenticity and confirm the manufacture date for your tritium half life.
The pricing on the accupoints is a little odd
    3-9X $599
    2-10X $600
    1-4X $700
    1-6X $1000

yeah not trying to skimp on quality of parts, budget around the $500 mark. Aimpoint seems to be the move...what about Eotech? Are they still a good red dot?

good to know about the ACOG clones. flip magnifier paired with a RDS sounds like the better option. Will def look into those 1-4 scops you suggested.

Eotechs are good, I picked up an EXPS2 and G33 magnifier (used for about $650 for the pair). I'm not positive I'll hang onto the magnifier, but the holo sight is definitely a keeper. The dot on the Aimpoint is a little more crisp than the reticle on the Eotech but you get a bigger field of view and larger reticle with the eotech, just comes down to preference.
