    Brownell's AlumaHyde-II.
Base coat of Coyote, which is a dead even match for Magpul and Vltor's FDE, even though it appears a shade "olive" due to the lighting and flash.

Let it cure for 2 weeks.

Assembled everything, pulled on the fishnets, and freehanded the tan.

Let it cure for 2 weeks.

Using paper plate templates cut to leaf and "stick" shapes, shot the forest green and brown Krylon Camo.

Let it cure for 2 weeks.

Pulled off the fishnets, and disassembled, gave the whole thing 2 coats of clat clear AlumaHyde-II

Let it cure for 2 weeks.

Spent 3 hours with files and sandpaper cleaning the crap out of the takedown and selector holes and off of the pins and selector... it's THICK paint!

    Midlength!
Runs like a champ. Right out of the box it deposits the casings in a nice little pile at 4:00 whether I'm running XM193 55gr or 62gr steel core ATI.

I kinda like the way the liiine runs up the back of your magazine..... :D

Double nice. I'm probably going to switch my barrel out for a 14.5. It has a 16" carbine on the upper at the moment.

The 14.5 is nice, but be aware that once the FH is mounted, it's done.
You can't change the gas block or barrel nut once it's assembled.

Also, if you don't have a lower that is clear for assembling as a pistol, you run into constructive possession issues if you take possession of the short barrel. I used my drill press to machine out a functional pistol lower before I ordered the barrel.

If you don't have a pistol lower, you'll need to get everything you want together before getting the barrel, then take the box down to Riflegear and have David assemble the upper and pin the FH on.

Of course, those 30rd bodies are blocked to 10. I screwed up and one is a 9rd mag.

My plan was to buy the dd 14.5 barrel from riflegear and have them pin and weld it for me and probably have them assemble it.

I'm still on the edge about tho because after all that everything on there is permanent.

    Exactly.

David called me 3 times before he welded the FH on to be sure it was configured the way I wanted.

3rd call, I asked "Okay, the gas block is a Midway low-pro, and I bought the TRX from you... is there something I should know before you pin it?"

"No... just don't want to have to undo it when you change your mind and want a Daniel rail.

Rock River makes the AR-15 that i have. I love it. Very well made, theres no play or unaligned movement between uppers and lowers, even after alot of heavy use at the range. Shoots 5.56 and .223. I didnt do too much to it. Still has the iron sights. I only added a sure fire light to the rail. Also, EWL (extreme weapons lubricant) seems to be my new favorite when it comes to cleaning that rifle.
