Yep. I added it to my USAA. It was a very easy process. I called up the USAA insurance and told them I wanted to add my firearms. They set up the policy and they needed serial numbers. I think it added $15 to my total insurance, but reduced my auto insurance by $10 or something.

 

I never had a problem with CLP down to -18, so I wouldn't worry about it.

 

Doubt I would be able to talk the wife into all of that even if we could afford it. I wanted to do ICF for all of the exterior walls (tornado country) but I've heard there are issues with insuring them because the foam is susceptible to termites.

 

we're looking at putting a gun safe room in our new house, i wanted to go full panic room and my husband thought i was crazy haha

 

Yeah, it won’t be cheap to build the house I want which is why I’m thinking 10-15 years in the future. I haven’t heard of issues specifically from builders, I’ve run across posts on building forums of people talking about possible issues but no posts that I’ve seen that say “I’ve run across this issue”.
I just bumped into a builder at lunch that built an ICF house in the city that I work in, he built it post-Katrina, so about 14 years ago and the home owner is still happy with it.

I need to check into it some more, I’m still in research phase, I think I’m going close to passive house standards.

Finally got my back ordered triggers and mags. Will drop em in this weekend and go break em in.

 

I'm a big fan of the Larue MBT-2S. I have two and a Geissele SD3G in my AR15s.

 

Yah it came on the lower, was going to change it, then it grew on me. Has some tension pieces inside and really locks on to the tube.

Yep. Anything I'm building from here on out gets a Larue trigger, unless I'm doing a clone build.

I just picked up one for $75 shipped. Should ship out tomorrow. It wasn't new but it only shot 50rds before the seller decided he wanted to go back to a 1 stage so his loss is my gain.

I got em for 80 direct from them. The mags were like 10 bucks each so of course had a buy a few. Can never have too many mags!

They are $80 right now, after shipping and tax its about $87-88 shipped. If I like this one, I'll pick up another new. I do see them all the time shipped new 2nd hand for $80 so I'm confident i'll be able to snag one sometime later when i'm ready.
