I've got the same one. Assist spring went bad after a few years...Kershaw/Shun knives all have lifetime warranties tho! Sent it and got it back fixed and sharpened in about a week or so and only had to pay to ship it to them.

actually you can carry a switchblade as long as the blade is under 1.9 inches, I think.

Hey guys I've got a question. I finally got around to shooting my AR for the first time last week. I put 90rds down range with it. The first mag was a Pmag and it worked great. I let the barrel cool for about 5-10 mins while my son was shooting the gun he got for his b-day. I put another mag in that came with the gun and after about 15-16rds it hung up on me, I tried the forward assist but nothing. I had to pull the charging handle to eject the rd and then emptied the mag. The same exact thing happend on the next mag. It was the first time the gun had ever been shot. It's a DPMS upper with a Spikes lower. I was shooting Federals 55gr. Do you guys think it was the mags or the feed ramp not smooth or something else?

If I'm understanding this right, you went through 3 mags - #1-PMAG, #2 & #3-steel mags? First instinct was to say mag issue, but the odds of two new steel mags hanging up seems a bit far fetched. I'm going with feed ramp or a sub-par batch of ammo.

How well did you clean it before you shot it, how well did you lube it after that?

    1) did you clean the barrel and action before the maiden voyage? generally you want to remove any grease/coatings applied by the manufacturer...
    2) was the bolt well-lubed?
    3) don't use the forward assist! :D
    4) for a feed problem, try tap-rack, or remove the mag and rack three times, re-insert... ;)
    5) otherwise, could be ammo consistency of manufacture, or the mag as you suspected...
    6) a more remote possibility might be if the wrong buffer is being used in the stock...

Yup... Under 2" is not prohibited.

Possession over 2" is not prohibited, but transfer is.
Also, you can have one at home, but it may not be carried in public, nor transported in the passenger compartment of a vehicle.
There is no "locked container" exemption, so under the hood is the only legal place for an SUV owner to transport.

What do the floorplates on the mags that came with the gun say on them? Did you buy this as some sort of package deal somewhere?

It could be anything from mag overinsertion to an ammo issue. No telling without seeing the rifle.

    +1

Bolt lubrication? AR bolts like to run WET... and by wet, I mean I DIP mine in Mobil-1 and allow them to drip-dry on a paper towel much like bacon.
I also run white lithium grease on the receiver rails and charging handle bearing surfaces.

Also, don't use the forward assist.
Don't "ride" the charging handle forward... that could prevent proper chambering, but the FA is a solution to a question that should never have been asked.
There is ONE safe use for the FA, and that is when hunting, if you want to quietly chamber a round, THEN gently ride the charging handle forward, and use the FA to fully seat the round.

There's more than a few Youtube videos where ARs have blown up after the shooter uses the FA to force a round in when it is not properly chambered. If you "let it fly" and it didn't fire, wait a few secs to make sure it's not a hang fire, then pop the round and rechamber. A $1-3 round isn't worth injury and a destroyed receiver.

Soooo easy to drop coin on an MP15-22 just as much as a full size black gun. I have changed mine so many times. I have a Tacticool22 Long Shroud and Bottle opener, MBUS2 in OD, Magpul Rail Covers in OD, AFG2 in OD, Bushnell TRS25 on .83 UTG riser 3 section, and a bunch of the 10rd shorties for bench shooting.

I moved the Tac Light and Laser and foregrip bipod with swivel went to the MP15OR with Mid-length quad rail, troy folding, Magpul ACS in OD, Daniel Defense Magwell Grip in OD, Magpul sling mount.

Just need a couple BAD levers :)

Thanks guys for all the feedback. I didn't clean the gun before shooting but I afterwards. I'm going to try and lube the bolt and see what happens.

Lol and you over lube the shit out of em! Hoppes works great too. Doesn't take much lube, just get a patch or a Q tip, put some lube on it (don't over saturate), and wipe it down. If you over lube, it'll bleed out while you're shooting and make a mess

BTW, Daniel Defense V4 in at my work, $1499. Can ship if you order online. All around one of the best rifles you can get, better than a Noveske (Noveske does have a better barrel, but that's it). Check em out
