Not particularly. My daughter is currently carrying .223 deer hunting but I'm limiting her to 50 yards; I was just looking into the 350 to get her into a more legit set up... Probably would never go back to .223 tbh, I have little to no use for that round since I have .22 lr and .243 I hit on both sides of everything it offers.

I’ve shot bears, antelope, and dozens of deer with a 77tmk outta the 223.

Check out the thread on rokslide if you want more info. I would take a 223 over a 350 legend every day of the week!

Same. With typical availability and price of 223/556, I'd stick with that. The 350 Legend starts to drop big time after 100 yards, so that'll be a challenge getting a youngster to range a target, figure dope, and make adjustments on the fly.
My buddy borrowed his brother's 45-70 for a hog hunt, because bigger is always better in his world. The land owner wanted to verify shooter and rifle was capable of making safe and ethical shots. My buddy spent most of the day swearing the rifle was off because he couldn't even hit the target. Long story short, I was on after second shot,,,, his brother sighted it at 25 or 50 yards.

Are both you you telling me you like a .223 over a 350 at 100+ yards on a deer? Are you taking neck/head shots? Or just enjoy tracking deer that dont leave blood trails?

6 year old girl behind the trigger, not saying she isn't capable just that a ~150gr 35 cal bullet moving 2000+ fps is gonna offer a bit more margin of error and pretty much guarantee an exit hole which guarantees a blood trail. Another huge plus is that I can actually find 350 legend ammo or could a couple weeks ago

Sounds like you want some black tip 30-06 M2 AP rounds. If it could punch holes in panzers it shouldnt have an issue with causing bambi to leave a blood trail.

In all seriousness though, a .223 is fine with deer. A heavier 69 gr + bullet such as a nosler ballistic tip shouldnt have an issue with leaving a blood trail.

You got any laying around? I have 5 rounds of 55 gr sp held over from last year and if I have found any in the last 6 months or so it was fmj. .223/556 got hit harder than anything else it seems from the shortage. The only reason I really even knew anything about the 350 is it was piled high on most shelves.

not in this state. 22 caliber is deemed insufficient to ethically kill a deer. the state gods have made 24 caliber the minimum. I guess our deer are tougher lol

223 maybe fine for deer, but mostly it's not.

25-45 sharps fits the bill. I've had one for a while. Good shooter and easy to load for because there are really only one or two bullets that will work. Neck up a 223 and you're ready to go.

Any centerfire is legal for deer in Alabama so if I wanted to I could use a 17 fireball or check even a .25 acp as long as its center fire and you use mushrooming ammo. I mean my future self gave me some stimulus money so I might as well spend it.

Picked up another 500 rounds of Wolf Gold from my buddy, who delivered it straight to my work! This Wolf Gold is some clean burning and accurate ammo, I would trade all of my Win and Fed xm193 for Wolf Gold or IMI.

Nice! A friend told me he had just acquired 3k rounds of tracer 5.56. I'm stoked for him haha.

Any sling recommendations? I've never had an AR sling before but am leaning towards the BFG VCAS sling.

I finally broke down and decided to build a "pistol" (I used to keep a buffer tube around to build all of my lowers as pistols but ended up giving it to a family member), so I have a few parts on their way now, I'll be using a spare lower I had and an old upper.
I think I may have forgotten the trigger guard though...

Nice! What brace? If I go away from the bare buffer tube I may go with the SB PDW brace.

It's the sba3, same one most everyone else runs. I like the pdw one, but it was just so much more cash. I'd definitely run it if it was a shorter gun like a sub gun size.
