For all of you worried about springs/detents flying off into the unknown, the easiest method I have ever found to deal with the situation is simply getting a clear painter's drop cloth. They're cheap as balls:

    https://www.amazon.com/s?k=drop+cloth+clear&s=price-asc-rank&qid=1609553651&ref=sr_st_price-asc-rank

Be sure to get clear, not the 'frosted' look.

Cut two 4-6in slits in it about 18in apart for your arms to go through. Drape over gun while dealing with problematic launchable parts. Stick your arms through the holes and continue assembly. Anything that gets away from you will be contained under the clear plastic and easily findable, provided you're not doing something idiotic like working over patterned carpet or in your gravel driveway.

That's why I said "full auto/3 shot burst". Depending on config, it can be full, or burst.

Looking at Mag carriers for my range/battle belt, what do you fine folks recommend? Maybe something that uses or can use the safariland ELS.

I like the simplicity of these.

Is it a range belt or a battle belt? The difference being how serious you take retention. Why can’t it be both? Because it’s either for battle, or it’s for dicking around on the flat range as far as configuration.
The best of both worlds and the bottom of the barrel quality I would consider would be tacos. Doubles, singles or staggered with rifle mag, your call.
Notice the belt worn...in battle...however I never put pistol mags on it. Just extra rifle mags, grenades, knife, diagonal cutters, spare flexy cuffs and the such. Certain computer with certain software in the old dump pouch and occasionally a purple dildo that would end up in peoples gear when they were asleep.

Well the concept is for it to be a battle belt, but it’ll see much more range time than battle time.
I looked at the tacos but I’ve heard some say that they have less retention than other pouches such as the ESSTAC KYWI.
    Thanks for the info.

I run these for pistol mags as they'll hold all my different mags.

Haven't tried any for AR mags.

Nothing too exciting... maybe a little rust
I was putting together a rifle a few months ago and sent the spring flying. I heard it hit metal and the only thing I could figure was the heat vent in the floor. I pulled the cover off, reached elbow deep into the ducting and after a minute of digging around I somehow came up with it. Still shot the damn thing out 2 more times before I finally got it installed, haha.

Super noob to ARs but since the 350 legend uses the same bolt as the .223/556 is it just a barrel and mag swap? And I guess make sure the head space is good with the new barrel? I've watched like 2 hours of yt vids and it looks like 1 of them would be "swapping a 350 legend barrel on my 556" but I didn't find one, I did see a brownell vid of 556 to 300 blk so I assume its the same. Is there anything else to get or to adjust once its together like the gas block and stuff? I also kind of assumed since the recoil will be more the gas block might have to be adjusted...

    Same crap everyone else got
Two barrels for one upper is pretty impractical unless there is some quick-change situation at hand. I think it would be better to leave your 5.56 upper alone and just build another upper for your 350 legend.
    Just my .02

You can't adjust headspace on an AR without removing the barrel extension, so checking headspace is of no benefit.

You could maybe go buy a bunch of bolts and find a few thou variance in the lot....

FWIW edit: 350 legend headspaces on the mouth, not the shoulder. If you're only shooting factory ammo, bees knees. But from a reloading standpoint this sucks, specially in an auto loader. Unless you like trimming brass to gnats ass accuracy. 350 legend is like loading 30 carbine. No thanks....

Not particularly. My daughter is currently carrying .223 deer hunting but I'm limiting her to 50 yards; I was just looking into the 350 to get her into a more legit set up... Probably would never go back to .223 tbh, I have little to no use for that round since I have .22 lr and .243 I hit on both sides of everything it offers.

I’ve shot bears, antelope, and dozens of deer with a 77tmk outta the 223.

Check out the thread on rokslide if you want more info. I would take a 223 over a 350 legend every day of the week!

Same. With typical availability and price of 223/556, I'd stick with that. The 350 Legend starts to drop big time after 100 yards, so that'll be a challenge getting a youngster to range a target, figure dope, and make adjustments on the fly.
My buddy borrowed his brother's 45-70 for a hog hunt, because bigger is always better in his world. The land owner wanted to verify shooter and rifle was capable of making safe and ethical shots. My buddy spent most of the day swearing the rifle was off because he couldn't even hit the target. Long story short, I was on after second shot,,,, his brother sighted it at 25 or 50 yards.

Are both you you telling me you like a .223 over a 350 at 100+ yards on a deer? Are you taking neck/head shots? Or just enjoy tracking deer that dont leave blood trails?
