I have both brands in various forms and agree. I really just look at Streamlight now.

Form 1 can is dedicated, but not integral.

I've put the upper on an sbr lower, its almost too small to feel right as a rifle.

For those of you with the Larue UU kit @cubie and @JimBeam what is the purpose of the simulated lower reciever part with the grip and trigger installed into it. I am missing something here. I wish you could pick which part you want as I wouldn't need the stock. How is the BCg that comes with the kit?

Nothing other than it can be used to test out different triggers you may buy.

That's the only thing I could figure out. It looks to be a solid kit with everything needed. Now I just have to decide if I still want to continue on the pistol route or build a 16" rifle but I already have one of them.

@Casper66 - you won’t be disappointed with the LaRue. Mine shoots great, no issues with quality or the BCG.

Well now that makes perfect sense. The kit is impressive. I already have an Aero enhanced lower and parts kit this kit would finish the whole thing. I will have to call Larue and see if it is available with a pistol brace with the 12" barrell. It's either that or get an 18" barrell and make it a DMR but I kinda have bolt guns for that role

NEVER said this to a guy before but that's a nice set you have there. Now I'm even more torn between a pistol or rifle build

I don't either but I sent a message to them anyway the worse they can say is no. I already have a 16" Ar and a couple of bolt guns so I have been thinking a pistol build. You guys talking about how accurate these are has me considering otherwise. On the other hand I also have a 8" PCC for defense use also so not sure if I need a pistol either. I have no real world experience with a short barreled Ar but I can imagine it being very useful. It will most likely be suppressed aswell.

I have several other in similar lengths and still jumped onto a 14.5 pin and weld

I can easily tell you already it has already run my Bushy 14.5 into the back of the safe and is in my top 3 rifles in my safe

Get one that isn't pistol length and call it a day

I'm honestly a little over the pistol phase...I still have a couple but they don't get used much...I'm enjoying my longer rifles much more

The pistol AR certainly has it's place...especially if adding a suppressor, but I rarely carry an AR anywhere except to the range and I prefer real stocks over braces...so I don't need to shrink it down to be a "truck gun"

I've settled on 14.5 and 13.7 rifles with pinned flash hiders as much more what I feel fits my needs and wants...and it's a nice middle ground...a couple inches shorter than the 16 with flash hider but still able to have a true stock

I fully understand this i mean I love my bcm 11.5 pistol it's a fantastic gun but unless I'm going out to the desert and setting up multiple targets to do some run and gun or multiple target transitions it's not going to see much use other than a camping trip truck gun.
The bolt gun and 16 with lpvo see a lot more action at the range we typically visit.

Eventually when I get a 9mm sub gun like a ptr mp5 clone or sig mpx etc I'll probably just sbr the 11.5 because I hate the brace. Or just pin the can on the 11.5 and make it a 1 stamp rifle.

If I did it over with just 1 ar platform gun I'd go the 14.5 pin and weld route for the reasons you mention.

my 14.5 is my go to but the pistol lengths are the ones that travel with me if i am not going for a range day

With the pinned and welded flash hiders are you then prevented from using a supressor? I know i have alot of questions but it's how I learn.

If you know your getting a can you can make sure the mount will equal or exceed 16 inches and have it pin and welded instead of a 1.5 inch flash hider

Exactly this, choose which suppressor you're getting and use their muzzle device and have it pinned and you're good to go
