they never said one way or the other why they discontinued the color mags.
Probably just a bean counter decision.

I had tons of colors and foolishly cashed them in during the last run following one of the shootings.
Made bank, but now they can’t be replaced.

Have put together quite a few Aero guns, they make some good stuff. Get yourself a cheap Duracoat kit and spray them yourself. It’s super easy and doesn’t require a bake.

there is something oddly satisfying about seeing that aluminum coated in brown colors! Nice.

I haven't seen the 2 together. That's not as far off as I thought.

check out a pic in the sun to compare. That’s really the only time you can tell.
I’ve seen some really wild variations in fde over the years, and this isn’t bad at all.

I had an FDE from Aero(I ended up selling to my buddy) it only had Magpul FDE stuff with it. I knew that different companies had all kinds of shades to theirs. The Magpul and Aero just went so well together. I wish I had built my buddy a black one and kept the FDE one for myself  I even had 10 mags with it.

I'm just worried about having a different shade. I've been wanting to try my hand at Alumahyde.....just haven't puled the trigger

Very close. I wouldn’t kick her out of bed!

you want to see some abominations check out all the different shades of brown Geisselle put out when they hopped into rifle production.

that was due to them anodizing instead of coating. One rifle would have different shades on the upper, lower and hand guard. All would be different than the stock and grip too.
It was pretty fun to hear all the people complaining.

all I needed to buy for Duracoat was a cheap pancake compressor and hobby paint sprayer.
    Very very durable.

I have not played with alumahyde, but I’ve heard good things.

I knew nothing short of full rattle can or cerakote would be an exact match. I don't mind subtle difference but it's gets a bit much when you start getting into Scar FDE rifle territory. I figured aero lower/upper combo plus magpul furniture and rattle can the optic/CH it would be about as consistent as I could get it to be

Colt has been bad about upper vs lower finish especially with the CR line currently.

Apparently, the single most critical aspect of an AR-15 is whether or not the colors match your panties.
