I just thought it was a good price. Especially for someone just getting into AR's.

Maybe I just don’t make sense with how I write stuff. Probably. I shot competitively with archery on a pretty good amateur level, worked at a couple of pro shops, had factory sponsors, and rigs worth several thousand dollars. In dealing with people I would never talk down to them especially about their equipment just show them the different attributes to a certain setup that made it worth using to justify the expense to achieve their goals. I have been and am on both sides of that fence.

i think you’re just one of the rare people who doesn’t like being a dick to others because you were taught to be a respectful human being. Haha.

Back in the day you could trust most YouTube reviews because they were just that, a review.

YouTube has quickly evolved into an advertising platform. Lots of people don’t know that many of the “reviews” were bought with free merchandise, sponsorship and outright payments.

Best advice I give gun noobs is: try it for yourself. Whether it’s a weapon light or new trigger, you can usually get back 80-90% what you spent on it.
Lots of things with the AR platform are subjective, and what works for one may not work for others.

I keep looking at the WOT force reset trigger. I just wish it was a 3 position like a Franklin Armory trigger. Mag dumps are fine and dandy, but I just keep thinking about the safety aspect of it....

I don't know what's going on in your guys' area, but gun shows are usually a pretty good place to stock up on ammo too. Lots of vendors trying to compete with each other so prices are usually very good.

Around here, they fight to see who can get the most $. They jack their prices up 20%+ above normal then put it "on sale" at 5-10% less than the jacked up price.

Too many responses to reply to individually, but I'm sorry to hear your guys' poor experiences. Most shows I've been to were extremely reasonable and well under online prices, and not just reloads but brand manufacturers ie. CCI, Hornady, Federal, etc.

Last show I went to I averaged <10 cents a round under the next best thing on AmmoSeek.

Gun shows in Wisconsin pretty much sucks. Overprices ammo and guns. The only thing good here is the retro stuff that's no one is looking at.

Every single gun show I have been to in Montana has had inflated prices on ammo even pre-covid. It's insane. It's basically a spot for all the boomers and white nationalists to come and pawn their "history" collections.

And I would also never buy reloads someone did themself at a gun show.

I am also not very fond of Olight. lol

It's almost like there are reasons the "elitists" shit on lower tier stuff. But in reality, most don't talk down about it, they simply call it like it is. There is affordable stuff and stuff for the people who rarely shoot or just have it in the house - and that is fine. It's great actually. Now if we could get grenades, belt feds, and RPG's to be more affordable that would be great too... Hell, my government owns a Nuke... I want a couple too.

Then there is the gear you are going to run 5,000 rounds through in a single year. If this past couple years have taught us anything, it's how to conserve ammo. But YTers and guys who are not exactly hurting for ammo are still gonna do cool YT shit. Just take it for what it is and with a grain of salt. I look at all these guys on YT, even some of the current "team" guys doing it, as basically hollyweirdo's. No matter how much they hide and conceal (opsec) they are still doing it for the likes. The rest of us are not really into that and know when SHTF about 1% of these guys might come out of the wood works to actually get boots on ground, but most will be working with the very agencies and governments us freedom lovers will be fighting. Again, that is assuming they don't just shut down because YT is their bread and butter. We saw it all the time the past couple years... no content for weeks, or months from some of these guys. And when there was content, it was nothing related to current issues. Why? Because when you take the kings shillings, you do the kings bidding. Like Travis Haley... dude is a shill. Sad waste of talent.

That is all. Buy what you can afford, use it accordingly. Something is better than nothing and if someone give you shit, fuck em. Find someone who understands they came from the bottom too and is willing to help.

The last time I shot someone else's reloads was during the the DHS ammo buy of the early 2ks. About 1 in every 15 had a bad primer. I always keep at least a 1K tac rounds in every caliber, but back then it was reloads or shooting tac ammo. I found a few sources (military or LE) where tac rounds were just as cheap as FMJ, so I trained with tac rounds, coz BUBBA's reloads where a bust.

I haven't been in a long time, but ours were terrible, half the items were shit,,, completely not gun related, good times or bad the prices on actual gun stuff was stupid, high entrance fees,, I'm not paying $25-$30 to go in too look at Chinesium flashlights, and pay another $5-$8 for a nasty ass hotdog.
