I like mine, have 2 of them, Romeo5.
I do not recommend the Sig MSR, bought one and returned it a week later. Hard to turn on and off and the flip up lens were difficult to close.

I’d imagine suppressed makes it that much more fun to shoot. I’ve been thinking about taking that plunge. Just deciding if I suppress it or the ARs first.

Definitely still make ARs but they've moved away from adjustable gas piston-driven guns, at least for the civilian market. Not sure about military. I think it was done to stay competitive with pricing.

EDIT: Corrected by another member, MCX line is piston gas system.

My main gripe about their MCX line is lack of compatibility with pretty much EVERYTHING else.

I’ve got one on an AR rifle with a 3x magnifier (excellent combination), the other was on a 44mag.

What do you mean by this? I’m not well versed in the Sig lineup but I thought MCX was a Gas Piston AR with a few proprietary parts? Or is everything proprietary like triggers and bcg?

Sorry MPX, not MCX. MCX uppers do use proprietary parts so there's still some compatibility issues. From looking at them I don't see how they would function with a traditional BCG. Honestly didn't realize them MCX was piston driven.

I like Sig, just don't like compatibility issues for replacement parts.

Ah I got ya. Yeah I think BCG is proprietary on the mcx, but I think things like safety/grip and possibly trigger is AR pattern. I think mag release is a bit different, same operation but sigified.

The MPX is super nice, wish I would have sprung for one over my Scorpion.

I don't believe you can you any DI BCG in a piston gun. Different animal all together.

The MCX uppers alone sell for $1800-2000 used. If you want to get into a sig piston upper for cheaper, maybe look for a sig 516 upper.

Or buy a superlative arms Piston kit and convert an existing upper you have. I think this is my plan for my 11.5

Good point. Generally speaking I'm happy with my DI guns but I do have one piston gun. There's always a difference when cleaning them after shooting but the biggest difference is when suppressed.

the 516's were kinda of the bastard child. not very desirable. if you can.. find a 556. Rifle or Pistol. My 556 Pistol (10.5) has been an absolute blast and reliable as all hell.

I just threw out the 516 b/c you can mate it to any ar lower. Can't do that with the sig 556 upper. But you're not wrong, the 556 is far more superior

for sure. I plan to do a MCX upper build at some point for that reason. I am pretty limited on upgrades and replacement parts on the 556. Pretty much got it all kinda finished up for now.

I'd beg to differ. Every new design Sig has came out with (even a few adapted designs) has had a recall. The 320 for the dropfire, the 938/238 for the gun firing when you take it off safety, the 365 breaking firing pins. The M400/516/716 having their FCG hammers crack due to improper heat treating, the MCX having recoil rod failures, the 556 had issues with both FTF and FTE that would creep up after a few hundred to a thousand rounds, and more that I can't think of atm.

I own a M17 and 938, but that's because they're cheap enough to justify fixing the issues down the road when bought with an employee discount.

Otherwise, I'd never buy one, especially with what goes on internally there.
