...the 1:7 twist is the "mil-spec" for the u.s. military M4/M16.. supposedly designed to stabilize the M855 round (62 gr?), ...anyway, 1:9 should be fine for most all purposes, unless you're planning on doing long range marksmanship w/ longer/heavier match-grade bullets/ammo... the railed gas block is a nice feature, but you still have to buy the flip up sight separate... so, more or less, these will just be personal preferences for you to decide amongst..

one thing that wasn't mentioned is the gas system "length"... you can get uppers w/ either "carbine length", "mid length", and even "rifle length" gas systems - this generally determines the useable handguard length, and sight radius (distance between front and rear sights)... i like the mid length system, as it gives you more handguard/rail space, longer sight radius than the carbine length, and might have a tad less felt recoil...

I got my whole upper from BCM plus their charging handle and BCG. It's almost finished. I'm going to need an accu wedge for it though. Rattles a little bit with my stag lower. It got here fast and the quality looks amazing. I'm still a noob in the ar world so my opinion cant carry that much weight :D

Crappy cell pic, but since that picture I have the black aluminum magpul enhanced trigger guard. Mags and sights are in the mail. I bought them off of SFSMedic here on the forum. He sells them from his web site: http://shop.ironworkstactical.com/

thanks! Can't wait to shoot it. I bought some AE .223 last night from walmart. It was like 7 bucks a case whereas winchester was nearly 12 a case... is winchester ammo that much better/cleaner? I use federal/AE in my glock for ranger/target and it's always been fine

For plinking practice but cheap and alot so you get more shooting in. Only range time will make you better not equipment.

    FIFY :D
if a case was that cheap my garage would be overflowing!
I use Wolf WPA for plinking/training.

last time I went shooting I used some of the hornady steel cased stuff and it ran great (50 rounds). after that I switched to the wolf and I could tell a big difference in power/noise. The wolf was a lot louder and had more kick to it. I guess hornady really dialed back their training rounds.

#1 - Within California, he can legally possess and use 30rd magazines that he possessed within California prior to the 2000 ban.

Within California, he can legally possess and use an AR with "evil features" provided it has a fixed magazine (bullet button, mag lock, etc...).
Within California, he can legally possess and use an AR without "evil features" whether it has a fixed magazine or not.

The catch is, a magazine greater than 10 rounds attached to a fixed-magazine rifle, regardless of "evil features", creates an assault weapon under a separate section of the code.

#2 - Bump-firing, while perhaps drawing unwanted attention, is not illegal in California.
However, even though the BATFE does not have a problem with devices like the Slide-Fire buttstock, California considers it to be a multiburst trigger activator. It is a felony to even possess a slide-fire in CA, and vendors will ship them.

So in the OP's case, I would assume that he has a "featured" rifle... whether with or without a bullet button, thus rendering it illegal to use the 30rd magazine (unless it happens to be a Registered Assault Weapon that he owned prior to the ban and he legally registered).

I'm gonna check that then. Federal here is $8 for 20 round boxes.
